Author

Glen L K Palmer

Glen Palmer was born in Derbyshire, United Kingdom on the 30th October 1975. He spent the first 5 years of his life in Derbyshire before his parents moved his family over to South Africa. He had a pretty normal upbringing but found he had a flair for captivating storytelling. In fact he was so good at it, for years, he convinced his brother he was an alien. He used his storytelling skills though out his school career writing short stories and poems in a little black book. His secondary school English teacher was so impressed with his writing skills that she made him the editor of his school's newspaper. After school he drifted from job to job, not knowing what he wanted in life, and soon his passion for writing dwindled somewhat. It was only after returning to England in 2000, that he decided to reignite his passion for writing. He is a regular contributor to magazines and has published articles for Dogs Monthly, FH&L, Diver and Getaway to name a few, and holds regular writing workshops, helping new and upcoming writers develop their skills. He now lives in Barnsley with his wife Marie-Clare and his English Springer Spaniel Shaggy, where he continues to write daily. Besides his loving wife and faithful dog, his other passions include Scuba Diving, Herpatology and of course, writing.

    Introduction

Hi there, first and foremost I want to thank you for purchasing Simple Writing Strategies – Super Simple Strategies To Write Any Book For Profit In 30 Days Or Less and putting your faith in me.

I personally think you’ve made the right choice in choosing my book over all the others that are out there, as I will soon prove to you.

Now I know that you don’t know me, but over the next few chapters and weeks I feel we’re going to be good friends. In just a few short pages, you’re going to learn super simple strategies and techniques, which will enable you to write a book on any subject in 30 days or less, even if you’ve never written a lick of content in your life. Exciting times indeed.

It’s said that there is a book in everyone. Everyone has a story to tell, however, there is a popular belief that you need to be educated in creative writing to express your thoughts onto paper. I personally believe that this isn’t true, and I’m living proof of this.

I’ve always been interested in storytelling, I can clearly remember the times, as a kid, when I sat around campfires telling my friends stories. I had a very active imagination, so I decided to give writing a try as a profession.

However, much like where you are right now, I had no idea on how to write a book. I didn’t know where to start, what to write about, whether I should write fiction or non-fiction and don’t get me started on grammar, spelling and punctuation.

    Does this sound familiar?

So before I actually wrote my first book, I did a few years of intense work on studying various writing techniques and many other strategies.

I guess you may be wondering why I decided to write this book? Well, I can remember the years of me scouring the Internet, attending writing workshops and classes. It was a lot of hard work and I realised there wasn’t anyone teaching what I discovered. Yes, there was a strategy being taught here, and a technique there, but I wanted to combine them all to make it as easy as possible to learn and implement.

I believe we, as authors, should stick together and help one another. You my friend aren’t the competition. You’re just like me. You love writing, and want to share it with the world. That’s why I decided to write this book.

Contained within this book, is a culmination of all those techniques and strategies I spent countless hours studying.

I’ve tried to break them down and make it as simple as possible so that my students – yes you, can write a book, without any formal training, in under a month – GUARANTEED!

    You’re soon going to learn:

How to choose a killer topic that sells

How to get in the right mind-set so that nothing stops you from writing your book.

The importance of an outline and blueprint

    How to write a bestseller

How to research in as little time possible, and so much more.

Now I’m quite sure you’ve had a wealth of different experiences throughout your life, but now you are about to embark on a new adventure – YOU ARE GOING TO WRITE YOUR OWN BOOK. Who knows where this may lead, no doubt it’ll be a personal achievement, but it could also be one of the biggest marketing efforts taken on that could lead to unimaginable profits. I, personally hope you do have a massive success with your endeavour. Whatever, the case may be, I’ll be here to help you every step of the way.

Just the thought of you implementing the techniques I’ve acquired and developed over the years fills me with excitement, as I remember the first time I used the techniques, the techniques I still use today.

Before I continue though, I need to tell you that the book you’ll be reading and digesting, although complete, is still a work in progress. The reason for this is simply, I’m learning new techniques every day. I continuously strive to find new techniques and strategies that will help me with my writing, however, rest assured it contains all the information you could want to write your book in the fastest time possible. So the book you have in front of you, although current and up to date, might not be in a few months. I’ll be constantly making changes, offering improvements and introducing new ideas and strategies to make this book the best it can be and improve on its success.

So, if you haven’t already, visit my website http://www.simplewritingstrategies.com and subscribe to my newsletter.

The reason you should subscribe is twofold. By signing up, you’ll always receive the latest news and developments in the writing world, just as I receive them, thus giving you free updates for life, so you’ll always have up to date techniques and secondly, I hope it will give you the chance to write about your successes as this is a new endeavour for the both of us.

Please don’t worry, you’re not getting a book that is old and out-dated, you’re getting the very latest thoughts and ideas. In many cases, you’re reading what I just learnt last week.

I’m going to jump right in with the first strategy. Now this is important, so take note.

When you begin the actual process of writing, and by that I mean getting your words down onto paper or on your computer screen, forget about spelling and grammar. I know this doesn’t make sense and may go against every fibre of your writing being, but hear me out. Spelling and grammatical errors can always be rectified in later versions. This was a mistake I made when I first started out, it took me so long to write my first book that I gave up in the end and it never got finished, because it got lost when I moved. That was over a year of work wasted for nothing.

Please learn from my mistakes and just get the words onto paper; editing can always be done later.

If I waited until the text was perfect, this course would’ve never been written and I wouldn’t be sharing my success with you. Always keep this in mind. Write first, edit later.

I also want you to know that the techniques shown for writing a book in under 30 days applies to both fiction and non-fiction. Both can be written at unbelievable speeds. Unfortunately, as you read certain chapters, you’ll get the distinct impression I am talking about non-fiction, when you want to write fiction, or vice versa. Please understand, that in nearly every chapter of this book – I’m talking about fiction and non-fiction. In some cases, I

might focus on fiction to give you an example, but understand the same technique can also be used for non-fiction. I also delve into techniques like character development, which only relates to fiction, if you are a non-fiction writer, then you may want to skip these parts.

Why should I listen to you? I hear you ask. Well, I have been writing ever since I could hold a pen, I live to write, it’s in my blood. I’ve had many short stories published in various publications. I’ve held writing workshops over the last few years helping writers and teaching them the same techniques as you are about to learn. Some have had publishing success, while others just write for fun. Now I want to help as many people realise their dream of being a published author too.

Whatever you decide to write, please try the techniques, they have worked for me time and time again and I have started to get students from all over the world having success with these techniques. The only reason you could possibly fail to write your book is that you decide not to use these techniques. You are moments away from learning the best techniques to write, publish and market your book for profit so keep reading.

I look forward to seeing your book in print, and to hearing about your success.

    Chapter 1

Why it’s imperative to write your book in the shortest time possible and create the greatest ever marketing tool in your arsenal.

Before we begin on our journey I would like to make a few apologies, so I don’t upset anyone. Call it housekeeping if you will. Throughout this book I will be using the masculine pronoun he for both genders. It’s not because I’m sexist, it’s just easier.

I’m what you call a lazy writer, if I can say something in the least possible words and still get my message across, I will. You’ll also note that when explaining some of the techniques, I will refer to non-fiction. Don’t worry, as mentioned in the introduction, these techniques are used for both. It’s just far more convenient to use one, than to shuffle back and forth. I hope you understand.

Now that the formalities are out of the way, let us begin...

One of the main reasons I decided to write this book is because a little than a year ago I was looking for more ways to sell my books, I turned to the internet and found Internet Marketing. One day, I attended a conference and met up with a chap called Daniel Wagner. If you are an Internet Marketer, you may know of him. At the time, I didn’t know who he was, but what attracted me to him was he was holding a book in his hand. I approached him and introduced myself. After a while, I asked him about the book he was holding, he handed it to me and said it was one of the top reasons he was a successful Internet Marketer. It was his own book – My Journey and the machine. If you get a chance, I urge you to read it; it is a great and inspiring read. It was the reason people in the Internet marketing community trusted him, and the reason he had instant credibility with clients and prospects alike.

He went on to explain that as soon as he had the book in his hands, it became an instant and incredibly powerful marketing book for him.

One of the great things about writing your own book is you instantly become an expert in your field and gain instant credibility.

I remember when I published my first novel Muti. It was all about South African witchcraft. Once people had read it, they would come to me and ask me all sorts of questions on the subject because they believed I was an expert in the field. That’s how powerful a book can be and how powerful it will be for you once it’s written.

Why creating your book is the greatest ever marketing tool you’ll have in your arsenal if you’re a professional or consultant.

If someone came up to you on the street and said to you, I have a special machine here with me, if you give me £10, it will make £20 for you. Reluctantly, you hand over the £10, watch the process, seeing that it’s totally legitimate, what would you do? My guess is you’ll go directly to your bank account and drain it of £10 notes.

Well in a way, that’s what you have in front of you right now. You’ve got a book, a machine that’s going to show you how to produce the most powerful marketing tool you or your business will ever encounter. In a matter of weeks you’re going to have that marketing tool to bring in more revenue, clients and profits and rocket your career into the stratosphere. You may experience more success than you thought possible.

Your book will be the most important marketing tool in your arsenal because it will give you and your business instant credibility. It sets you apart from every other professional or consultant in your field. It can be turned into a client magnet that attracts leads and puts them right in your lap. What’s more, clients will not only buy the book to learn from you, they will trust you enough to be repeat buyers, and that’s where the truly massive profits come into play.

Okay – so you’re not interested in writing a non-fiction book, you’re more into crime dramas.

How would your life be changed if one day you found yourself on Richard and Judy speaking about your new novel, or the Today Show?

What if you enjoyed the success as a published fiction author, with publishers waiting with baited breath for your next novel?
