This multi-page knitting pattern, complete with photographs, provides detailed instructions to create a beautiful winter cloche style hat featuring the Aran simple plait against the background of a reverse stockinette stitch. The matching scarf pattern is a larger simple plait set against a garter stitch. Hat is knitted in the round. Scarf is knitted in rows on short needles.
These two patterns knit up quickly into a lovely matching hat and scarf set. Both articles of clothing are thick and warm as well as soft and lightweight. Each pattern comes with clear and specific directions and reference photographs for ease of use.
Things to know about these patterns:
Hat Skill level: Advanced Beginner
Hat fits to size 22".
Scarf Skill level: Intermediate Beginner
Scarf can be made any length and pattern includes instructions for lengthening it.
Each pattern requires about 300 yards of any yarn that meets the gauge specifications. The pictured hat and scarf both were knitted with Phentex Harmony acrylic yarn.
Size US 7 and Size US 8 circular needles (16” long) for hat
Size US 8 short needles for scarf
Size US 8 double pointed needle (dpn) – one set of five needles
