Introduction
In March, 2013, my novel, Finding Cherokee Brown was published. It tells the story of a 15-year-old girl who is being bullied and follows her journey as she finds the courage to stand up to her tormentors and change her life for the better. Bullying is something I feel very passionately about and I wrote the novel in the hope that anyone reading it who was being bullied would find inspiration and strength from Cherokee’s story. After the book came out, I started receiving emails from readers telling me how it had affected them. Some of them wrote that they’d imagined what Cherokee would do in their situation and this gave them the confidence to stand up to their bullies. Others told me that the book had made them feel better by reminding them that they were not alone. When I realised how the novel was helping people, it made me want to do more. And so the idea for this e-book was born. Finding Your Inner Cherokee is an interactive workbook, full of case studies, exercises and advice, designed to help reassure and empower victims of bullying. Just like the character in my novel, we all have an inner ‘Cherokee’ – a part of us that is happy and care-free and strong. But when we are being bullied it’s very easy to lose sight of this part of ourselves. I wrote this e-book to try and help people rediscover their confidence, uniqueness and strength – to help them find their own inner Cherokee – and overcome their bullies.

Note to the reader: Over the years I’ve been writing and life coaching I’ve come to realise the huge power of the written word. Even if you hate writing, the fact is, writing about your feelings and the things you are going through can be hugely therapeutic. Something magical happens when you spill your emotions on to a page – it helps your brain to process them and it helps you find solutions for the most difficult of problems. At various points in this book, I’m going to ask you to write something down. It could be a simple quote, or it might be a short written exercise. To benefit fully from what you’re about to read, it’s vital that you do these exercises. So, before we go any further, grab yourself a notebook and pen. You can also use this notebook to journal your thoughts in as you go. From now on, writing your feelings out is going to become your secret weapon in your quest to beat bullying and be happy. . . .

How do I know?
