    “You know, the night has passed away much too quickly for me. What about you?”

    “Oh yes,” she replied, giggling a little. “It felt like those nights when my friends from school would sleep over. Suddenly it’s just morning, and I haven’t slept, not even a wink.”

    “Had any one of them wanted nothing more than to take you in his arms and kiss you for a long, long time?” he asked.

    She looked at her, and then blushed. “Of course none. Had I mentioned that all of them are females?”

    He smiled. “I know. I guess I’m just trying to find a way to get that into the conversation.”

    He sighed. “I’m worried I’ll scare you away.”

      Chapter One

      AFTER SEEING RAVEN to the door following dinner, Simon went into his home office to go over the files of Andrew Martin.

      The man was completely innocent of the rape and attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend, Pamela Stevenson. He knew that through his special ability to spot innocent people. His lot in life was to protect these innocents and make sure that they didn't go to prison unjustly. One hundred percent of his clients had to pass the innocence test or he couldn't represent them.

      Now, he needed to talk to Erick and see if his friend had uncovered anything on Andrew's buddy, Jake.

      Placing the call, Simon put the phone on speaker so he would have his hands free to take any notes he might need.

      Erick's voice came through the speaker.

      Hey, Simon. So far, Graeme still hasn't submitted anything to me. But he says that he has come up with a few things and that he should be completed with his research within a couple of days.

      That's great news, Erick, Simon replied. It was, indeed, very good news that it was another Earthbound Angel who was doing the background check and investigation into Jake's past. Good to know that Graeme has settled into his new house. Just keep me posted, okay?

      Of course, Simon, Erick assured him. Oh, by the way. Holli would like to invite you to have dinner with us on Friday, if you're free.

      I think that will be fine, but I need to check a couple of things first.

      If your hesitancy has anything to do with a certain beautiful young blonde woman, you should know that she is also invited and has accepted. Actually, Holli didn't give her a chance to say no.

      Both men laughed at this. They both knew how Hollianne was when she made up her mind about something.

      Well, in that case, I'll be happy to have dinner with you both on Friday night, he said laughing.

      Wonderful! I'm sure by then I'll also have more information for you on this Jake fellow.

      When they had disconnected the call, Simon remained at his desk studying the information he already had while he waited for the new information to arrive. Most of this would be pretty simple to use to Andrew's advantage in court.

      He just hoped that Erick's friend had come up with something on Jake because his feeling was that Jake was more involved than he had claimed to be.

      THE NEXT MORNING, Dreama stopped by the hospital on her way to the office to check on Allison.

      It had been a truly horrifying sight when she had arrived there late the previous night. Allison was screaming at the top of her lungs to go home. It didn't help that she had needed to be restrained in order to keep her from hurting herself or anyone
