Introduction
So, you are finally going to tie the knot! Congratulations! There are probably a million different things running through your head right now (is this real, is this it, why didn’t s/he go to Jared, etc…), and in all likelihood only some of them are about the actual wedding. That’s okay, that’s what I’m here for. Take a deep breath……… now come with me as I run through all the things you need to plan for to have a spectacular wedding on a budget that you will never forget (the wedding, not the budget).
Here I’m just going to go straight down the agenda and give you a brief overview of everything mentioned (mostly because, honestly, you only want to spend time reading about the things you don’t know, that way you don’t waste time instead of actually doing those things!).
The first chapter is about the time period from the first few weeks of your engagement to about six months before the wedding (if the proposal is something like the day before the two of you plan on getting married, then reading about wedding planning ideas probably isn’t your cup of tea anyway). It covers things like the essentials
checklist, being your own wedding planner, some of the biggest money traps early on (and how to avoid them), and any ethnic or thematic concerns you might have.
The second chapter is all about the crew, the attire, and the considerations. Who to invite? Who to have surrounding you (maid of honor, best man, etc…)? What to wear? And, finally, the all-important question: to buy or not to buy?
The third chapter is all about where the real fun begins: the after-party! At least, that’s how it was on prom night…Seriously though, the reception takes up the bulk of what people mean when the talk about Wedding Planning,
and we’ll go through all the ways the reception can enhance, or diminish, the entire wedding experience and how to have a good one without breaking the bank. Presumably, you want to eat. You want everything to be decorated well. There has to be music, and lots of it (and not country, or glam rock, please…). Finally, the venue has to be you.
The fourth chapter is all about getting records of the wedding for you to have and cherish for the rest of your life. We’ll cover the two main areas of visuals: elegant and formal wedding photos (taken in studios, not on the wedding day), and video recordings or action photography of the event, as well as the pros and cons of each option.
The fifth chapter is for the honeymooners (the two of you, not the show). You have to make some very important (and potentially costly) decisions about where it’s
