Chapter One
Wow,
said James as he jumped out of the golf cart. I didn't think it was hunting season yet?
It isn't, Bro,
said Tom to his younger, more handsome brother. Someone's probably just target practicing. Go ahead, you have the honors. By the way, nice par on that last hole.
Thanks. It's not very often you let me have honors. I think I'm gonna keep em on the next nine.
Don't count on it little brother. I'm not that easy. Whoa, that's your best drive so far! Let's see if I can play cart golf and keep mine in the fairway too.
Not bad. But I think I out drove you for a change. Man, listen to those shots! They're coming from over there now. I wonder what's up? Sounds like the same gun,
said James.
Maybe it's a poacher? The course is cut in the middle of prime hunting grounds. I hope he gets caught. Come on, it doesn't concern us. We've got a chip and a putt for birdies.
I beat you by one stroke on the front nine, you lost honors already,
said Tom as he teed up on the tenth. Looks like we’ve got some guys in front of us. I was beginning to think we were the only ones on the course. They're on the green so we can go ahead and drive.
Tom and James rode down to the fairway to wait for the golfers in front of them to get off the green so they could hit up. The tenth hole had water on the right and a row of trees on the left. The green was sheltered by a tree filled ravine. It was the most secluded of all the holes on the beautiful Lake Haven Public Golf Course."
What's the deal? It looks like those guys are laying on the green,
said Tom, as he lined up his second shot.
Something's not right down there. I'm gonna ride down and see what's going on.
As James got closer he could sense the fear swelling up in the depths of his soul. Tom, they've been shot,
he shouted jumping out of the cart.
Be careful, James,
shouted Tom as he ran down to the green. Are they dead?
I think so. They've been shot in the head. It wasn't target practice that we heard. I'm calling 911. Keep your eyes open!

In less than ten minutes, two uniform cops arrived on the scene and quickly called the Lake Haven homicide division. While waiting for the detectives to arrive, they began cordoning off the area with tape and set Tom and James off to the side for questioning.
Hey man,
said James to one of the uniforms. "We
