Always love hearing another characters POV.

In Existence, at first I thought Leif was sweet and just too nice and was thinking that Pagan was going to hurt him when she finally leaves him for Dank. But then I found out he was not human and was soulless to boot. So later in Predestined when Pagan kept being drawn in by his sweet human side I was freaking out she would forget he's soulless and has a possessive claim on her soul and be drawn to him. I couldn't understand how she could forget he's the Voodoo Prince and still fall for his tender side. It was not until the second time Leif took her to Vilokan and how afraid he was for her, that she might anger his father and he could lose her, that I learned that Pagan is a really good judge of character.

Reading Leif's story made me see that Pagan was correct when she believed he does have good in him. I'm still upset with him that it took him so long to realize that it doesn't matter how much you love someone you can't claim their heart OR soul if they don't return your feelings.

I'm curious to see if Leif's story will spin off into a series of his own and since I now know he does have redeeming qualities I would be psyched to read it. He and that Sabine character might have something there to explore.

I have to say I liked getting in Leif's head! Before I was on the fence about Leif, and while I don't feel like he is the match for Pagan, I liked seeing that he wasn't heartless. Maybe he will find his happily ever after..just not with her!

Now Leif 2.0 was an easy read because more than half the book were already known form Predestined. What Leif 2.5 gave was a small glimpse into his thoughts on the situation. How he'd sought assistance and eventually the decision that made the ending of Predestined. I will not give anything else away. Because it did some clarifying, I rate Leif 5/5 specs. With 3 Specs for Predestined, this evens out to a nice 4/5 specs.Happy reading everyone!

This book basically takes us back through Existence and Predestined in Lief's point of view. Though Lief is portrayed as the bad guy.. this book made me love him. Lief is just misunderstood and a product of his environment. You could never say Lief didn't love Pagan because he did.. he loved her her whole life.. he watched out for her.. he protected... and he saved her. My heart actually broke for Lief because he is soulless and doesn't understand love the way Pagan does.. all he knows is he loves her.. always has.. and probably always will. And he knows what his father has told him.. which is that he owns Pagan's soul.. she is his.. he saved her and now he soul is tied to his. "Pagan was mine." Lief"She was mine. I owned her soul... until Death stole her heart." -Lief

Following the Existence series, you get to look into the minds of Pagan and Dank, but what about the mysterious Leif? In this short novella, the first two books are combined and seen through the eyes of Leif, the Prince of Voodoo. The sweet boy of book one and the evil many of book two gives the reader a look into his own heart and mind as he struggles with loving Pagan and revealing his true self. This was a novella which meant that the read was fast. I struggled with not skipping sections because after all I had already read them but from Pagan’s eyes. I had to force myself to read slower and pay attention as Leif’s thoughts and feelings were revealed. The concept of looking through Leif’s point of view was great. I feel in love with him in the first book and was torn between anger and even more love of him in book two. Though he is not the ‘good’ guy, he was still a man in love and a hot one at that.By focusing on Leif, the author showed the characters’ depths and the complex emotions they experienced. Leif is the bad guy, right? Or maybe he is just a guy caught between a rock and a hard place: his father and the love of a human. I think I enjoyed the book more after I read it and thought about it than I did actually reading it, if that makes sense.Don’t read this until you read the first two books. You’ll read some language and sexual undertones though there is nothing explicit. The author could have made many scenes explicit but chose to gloss over them letting the reader’s imagination finish the work. There are a couple of F-bombs, but not many.I really did enjoy this book as it gave me more windows to look through in the Existence story.Note: I purchased this book with my own funds with no expectation of a positive review.

This is a bit of bonus material that, in my opinion, doesn't really add much to the series. Leif's perspective wasn't all that different from what I expected, and the recapped scenes were not really expanded any by seeing it through a different point of view. Perhaps if I had been more interested in Leif, I would have gotten more out of this. But he isn't a favorite character of mine, so... meh.
