About this ebook

Holy Angels and Demons in the Bible: Michael, Gabriel, Satan and Other Angels by Robert Alan King is a book with over 10,300 words. Angels have always been an interesting subject and a curious inquiry for many throughout the history of mankind. The world is full of folklore and myths regarding the nature and purpose of angels. King examines the Bible alone to peer into the heavenly realms and see what God has revealed to us about the angels. The book will take a look at Satan, the fallen angels, the Angel of the Lord, the holy angels, cherubim (and the living creatures), seraphim, Michael, and Gabriel. It will also briefly look at the ranks and classes of angels. This book will also explore whether fallen angels and demons are the same, as well as determine if Beelzebub is actually another name for Satan or not.

Though angels were here in the universe before we were, this book explores their existence and shows how they differ from man, including an examination of their path, their trial, and their purpose. Overall, in the end, as different as we are from one another now, angels and men will share a common fate, whether that is dwelling in the presence of God forever or being cast into the Lake of Fire. Robert Alan King is an ordained minister through Calvary Chapel.

    Introduction

Angels have always been an interesting subject and a curious inquiry for many throughout the history of mankind. The world is full of folklore and myths regarding the nature and purpose of angels. Yet, it is extremely dangerous to base your beliefs of angels on spurious documents or ancient legends, since these are the conclusions of man and not the revelation of God. How can humans come to understand heavenly beings by pondering and speculation? It simply is not possible and so those who read and follow any of their suppositions will most certainly be led into error and arrive at a distorted view of reality.

What I have attempted to do here in this book is to avoid any influence from fables and legends, including Hebrew or early Christian speculation, and instead simply examine the Bible alone as the only reliable source for understanding the truth in this matter. Because of this, we can examine the real evidence and peer into the heavenly realms together and see what God has revealed to us about the angels.

The Bible makes it clear that God created angels prior to the creation of man (Job 38:7; Psalms 148:2-5; Colossians 1:16). They were here in the universe before we were, but now we will explore their existence and see how they differ from man, including an examination of their path, their trial, and their purpose. Overall, in the end, as different as we are from one another now, angels and men will share a common fate, whether that is dwelling in the presence of God forever or being cast into the Lake of Fire.

    Satan the Adversary

The most infamous of all angels is, of course, Satan who fell from heaven. Keep in mind that the devil is never technically referred to as an angel, but rather a cherub (Ezekiel 28:14). And though we classify cherubs as angels today, this may not be biblically correct, as we will explain below in our chapter covering ranks and classes of angels. The name Satan is satan in the Hebrew and Satanas in the Greek, meaning an adversary or enemy who opposes or resists. Both God and Jesus have used this name in speaking about him (Zechariah 3:2, Matthew 4:10, etc.). He is also called the devil in the New Testament based on the Greek word diabolos, which means one who slanderers or makes false accusations.

There has also been some confusion about whether or not the title Beelzebub
