Divorce: Navigating the Storm - For Men

About this ebook
Divorce is a bull-dozer through your mental and emotional house at midnight.
This book clarifies some basic issues nearly all men over-look or ignore when confronted with separation and divorce.
Using the information in the book will guide a man to realize he is able to steer a better course through this emotional mine-field.
Most approaches to divorce include legal tactics, money manoeuvres and various mind-games. This book avoids the 'war-games' and endeavours to steer a course that will enlighten and hopefully relieve some of the anger and angst that is the norm in marriage break-ups.
The subjects of self-awareness, the seven stages of grief and the forgiveness process are the staples here; to enable a man to get a handle on the real issues in his life.
While not a magic bullet or panacea for divorce the information and suggestions go a long way to build bridges of communication and understanding and assist in creating stability for someone who wants to build a better situation in their personal and family life.

Apparently I'm guy who came through what an Austrian psychologist called a personal holocaust with all of the attendant maladies. And whoever said, 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger', is an idiot and never really endured that much at all. They say that marriage is a wonderful institution. But after nineteen years marriage to a sociopath; I now know what being institutionalized means. Well, I hope that having written this divorce thing; a lot of men will garner some value from it. And as it was written out of experience I can only trust it may be of value to you, the reader. And be kind to each other.

In 1994 David Roberts and I, used to get together at his bolt-hole in Panton St in Bendigo, on a Friday night, make up some food (it was great food too), and talk about the things men struggle with so much. Without David’s discerning input a lot of this would be more awkward than it possibly is now; so for that I’m indebted for his time and contribution. The name Robert Were also surfaced from time to time, during our gourmet forays, because we had both done a bit of work with him, and that work was also a partial contributor and catalyst for this work.
Owen Persehouse of MENDS fame (check out the website), has also generously offered advice and material, noted herein, for my seminar. I am very grateful, as it filled a hole that was unseen at the time.
Guy Pettit, teacher, writer and generous voice on the other end of the phone. The illustration on page thirty three he generously gave me along with all of the Seven Stages of Grief and the Forgiveness Process. See a lot more of his work and his ebook, ‘The Heart of Healing’ at the website shown here. Highly recommended. http://www.iloveulove.com/forgiveness/pettittbooks.htm
Andrew Hacker (no relation to the famous Jim) of The Men’s Workshop in Melbourne, was very generous with his time to review and make significant comments on the draft. That contribution was well received.

Lastly, but not inconsequentially; thank you to all the men I’ve met while driving a cab, on and off for the years from ’97 to ’09.
They told me their stories. And wow! . . . what stories they were. And thank you to all of them for the encouragement they gave me and the enthusiasm they showed for my plan for this work. At a subconscious level, those stories have been a large part of the drive and foundation of this work.
And that contribution is demonstrated, by you the reader, reading this.
