About this ebook

This is where our adventure all started: OUR NEW SCHOOL. No sooner had I thought it than I felt a hand on my shoulder. I whipped around to see a short plump girl with bounce-a-bounce black hair that was tied up in an out of fashion pony tail.
“Hullo.” She said in a short cheeky voice and as she spoke I noticed that her front tooth was missing. The tooth made her look tricky and kind of wicked. Her eyes darkened as she said,
“New girls, I expect.”
“Yep,” I said sharply, I was not used to been disturbed like that. I was quite furious but to Mao Mao it seems like a good opportunity to make friends.
“What’s your name?”
“Emily,”
“What’s your ...”
“...”
“What’s the...”
“...”
“Can I...”
“...”
But I didn’t know that things were going to get worse.

Six Funny Scary Stories of Three Girls (Children's Books) - Vicky Gao

    The Bossy Emily Event

    Chapter 1

My name is Vicky. I’m not a bad kid, my parents were not rich, nor powerful. But bad things do happen to me, and it is my duty to fight back and make them into good things.

My best friend is Mao Mao (pronounced Maw Maw). Her parents were on holiday somewhere in Japan, she didn’t want to go, so she came to live with us for the time being. She likes to sleep a lot and her only excuse was:

But it’s too cold and too early! She even says that when it’s boiling hot and two’ O clock in the afternoon! I think it’s become one of her habits, and believe me, none of her habits were any good: sleep and eat a lot, jump about when panic, not learning from mistakes, and most importantly, not considering before doing something. One of my habits is: To think quickly when needed to, I’m not saying that it’s good, I’m just saying that that’s the way I do things.

Anyway, once Mao Mao’s asleep she proves impossible to wake unless you say:

I’ll go then if you’re not coming! Or,

Get up! Or you’ll be late for school! And then came the reply, it’s always like that.

Did anyone see my school uniform?

No, but it should be on the chair!

Just like that! It seems that the day could not be better, but (not as usual,) I was wrong.

    Chapter 2

This is where our adventure all started: OUR NEW SCHOOL. Did I forget to mention that we moved schools to Mao Mao? But as I stared at the golden gates with the sliver Carlton Public School engraved upon it, I realized that Mao Mao, who was beside me was gaping! Good that she’s satisfied! I thought. No sooner had I thought it than I felt a hand on my shoulder. I whipped around to see a short plump girl with bounce-a-bounce black hair that was tied up in an out of fashion pony tail.

Hullo. She said in a short cheeky voice and as she spoke I noticed that her front tooth was missing. The tooth made her look tricky and kind of wicked. Her eyes darkened as she said,

    New girls, I expect.

Yep, I said sharply, I was not used to been disturbed like that. I was quite furious but to Mao Mao it seems like a good opportunity to make friends.

    What’s your name?

    Emily,

    What’s your …

    What’s the…

    Can I…

But I didn’t know that things were going to get worse.

    Chapter 3

At school the teacher seated us on the same table as Emily. So unfortunately Mao Mao, without considering as usual, decided to talk to her.

    Give it! Mao Mao shouted

    Or else! She added

Or else what? Emily asked, still clutching Mao Mao’s rubber closer to her chest.

Or else I’m telling! Mao Mao yelled back.

Fine. Said Emily throwing back the rubber. Well luckily I wasn’t the first one to say hi! I thought. What happened next was because Mao Mao pulled out one of her bad habits again: Not learning from mistakes, so she let Emily borrow her rubber again.

I gave the wrong ones this is mine! Protested Emily, putting on a worried face.

No! Your rubber doesn’t have the blue ring around its middle! Mao Mao shouted back.

    Give it!

    Or else!

    Or else what?

Or else… Or else… Hum,um,um… Or else telling again!

I don’t care! Spat Emily and her eyes darkened as she added,

Because if you put your hand up to tell then you’ll only have one hand to hold the rubber so I’ll snatch it away and pretend that nothing happened! This was too much for Mao Mao, her face shone bright red, she looked like a bomb that was about to explode. But just as she was about to yell ‘teacher’ and explode, I got a brainwave, I clicked my fingers. Anyone who knows me well would know I had an idea to bail someone, me or all of us out when I click my fingers,

Stop, I’ve got a better idea than telling. I said to Mao Mao who was already in a hand-waving-to-the-teacher mood. She looked astounded,

    "I’ll leave
