About this ebook
If you have just been told that you or someone in your family will have to go on a liquid diet, your initial reaction might be panic. “But what can I eat?” When I was told that I had to have jaw surgery and would be on a liquid diet before progressing on to a completely soft diet for three months or maybe more, I began to crave all sorts of foods that I hadn’t even thought of for quite a while. Recipe Solutions for a Liquid Diet has been written to hopefully help experiment and spice up the monotonous few foods that immediately spring to mind when thinking “liquid diet”. If you are on a liquid diet for any length of time, you’ll get bored with bland, creamy foods, i.e. smoothies with any “milk” type products or “creamy” soups. If you aren’t in the process of healing the inside of your mouth, you can have spicy, tasty liquids.

Recipe Solutions for a Liquid Diet - Glenda Bland
Introduction
I want to be absolutely clear that I’m not a nutritionist, nor any type of medical person who can give advice on the nutrients that you are supposed to consume daily, especially if you are dealing with a medical problem. I’m just someone who has had jaw surgery and found it incredibly difficult to come up with things to eat that are not boring and bland. If you have just been told that you or someone in your family will have to go on a liquid diet, your initial reaction might be panic. But what can I eat?
will be the first question that pops into your head, especially if you don’t or don’t like to cook. Whether it’s for medical reasons or because you want to detox and jump-start a diet, (which I do not recommend) the changes in your diet will be dramatic.
When I was told that I had to have jaw surgery and would be on a liquid diet before progressing on to a completely soft diet for three months or maybe more, I began to crave all sorts of foods that I hadn’t even thought of for quite a while. I’m a person who likes crunchy foods so I ate my fill of corn chips, large crunchy green salads, popcorn and nuts before my surgery. My last supper
before surgery was nachos, one of my all-time favorite foods!
This book has been written to hopefully help experiment and spice up the monotonous few foods that immediately spring to mind when thinking liquid diet
. Some of the recipes can be spicy but you’ll find that if you are on a liquid diet for any length of time, you’ll get bored with bland, creamy foods, i.e. smoothies with any milk
type products or creamy
soups. If you aren’t in the process of healing the inside of your mouth, you can have spicy, tasty liquids, however if you are like me, you’ll still miss the crunchy texture.
You’ll find that there are some kitchen tools that will be essential in preparing your liquid meals. Since I was the only one in my family who had to take in liquid foods, I found my favorite go to tool
to be the stick blender
or as some people refer to it, the immersion blender. It’s so easy to use and will blend single servings of food or you can use it right in the saucepan if you are liquidizing the entire recipe. I used a blender and a food processor when
