- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Unforgettable, beautifully illustrated guide to London c.1883. What makes this book so great is not that it shows the great sights--the Tower, Covent Garden, Westminster Abbey, etc.--but that it tells of the street sweeper, the apple seller and others trying to eke out a living, giving a hint of a darker side to these London scenes. I highly recommend this as a teaching tool to anyone wanting their children to get a good picture of 19th century London.
