John R. Sharp, M.D., is a psychiatrist and neuropsychiatrist who serves on the medical staff at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He is on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and he divides his time between Boston and Los Angeles.

I suffer from seasonal affective disorder and not only does this book have glimpses into the lives of others that have S.A.D., it also shows their own ways to cope with it. It's not *all* about S.A.D, but the parts that are gave me some great ideas on how to overcome my "winter blues."
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I thought this book might be more interesting than it was. I hope Mr. Sharp is a better therapist than he is a writer. I got as far as the woman who gets depressed in summer because it's hot and humid. There was also a young woman who got sad at Christmas because it reminded her of a bad breakup. Not only were the case histories dull, but Sharp never made it clear how he was helping these folks. Perhaps this came later in the book, but life is too short for me to wait around to find out.
