Abigail inherits a cottage from her elderly friend, but the property happens to be occupied by Cade, who has been farming the ranch for the past 10 years. Abigail wants to use the cottage to open a knitting store, but Cade understandably isn't interested. Aside from the dramatic and kind of abrupt ending, I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would.

This is an easy book to read. Of course, I borrowed it from the library because of the knitting reference. But I also want a nice love story and the story of Abigail and Cade is just so cute, love how some of their mischief made me laughed. And the beautiful shop in a sheep farm...I wish the shop is real so I could go visit or even sign up for a knitting seminar.

Yes, it's a formulaic contemporary romance, but that's okay. It's enjoyable fluff, right on for the genre.

Not a bad story, but the romance was a little "Harlequin " for me.

This is a typical romance which follows a familiar plot. Boy meets girl. They don't get along. Some crazy person tries to interfere. They fall in love. There's some misunderstanding, And a happy ending. That said, it was an enjoyable story if you go into it not expecting knitting advice. I'm looking forward to the second book.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the characters. I didn’t like Cade (the male leading character). I thought he was a jerk. I did like the female character but I thought that she needed to stand up for herself more. I thought the ending was too neat. There was really no talking or explaining or apologizing done and I think it needed it, especially the apologizing. Also, I couldn’t close my eyes and picture the people in the book or the town where it is supposed to take place which I like to be able to do. However, I really liked the writing style and I liked how I could feel my chest getting tight in some of the emotional scenes (which is how I judge whether a book is good). This was also a quick read for me and I was able to finish it in four (4) hours.

Although this is a romance novel and that genre is not generally what I read... but this was really well done. I enjoyed the writing, really liked the main characters, and the plot ripped right along as quick as frogging an ugly scarf. Excited about the first book, and looking forward to the next!

I thought this would be a cozy knitting drama - girl's problems neatly solved by her involvement in knitting and the knitting community around her (there are a lot of books that fit this description). Always good for some entertainment while doing household chores. This was a full-blown romance, which I usually avoid as I don't enjoy the genre as much. There were the requisite misunderstandings and the colorful physical descriptions (how manly he was, how gorgeous she was, etc.). I was a little disappointed that my reading radar was off when I picked this - should have paid more attention to the book description.

I really liked this book a lot. It was not a deep sort of book, but a fun, fluffy romance kind of book that makes you sigh and wish that sometimes real life could be more like that. The main characters were amazing, and the chemistry between them was fantastic from the start. The idea of the knitting studio was an added bonus to the plot as an avid knitter myself. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for some fairly realistic romantic fluff, and an escape to the country where cowboys are sexy and companionable knitting is a daily occurrence.

When knitting queen Eliza Carpenter passed away she left most of her ranch to her nephew Cade. She left a small parcel of land (and the cottage on it) in the middle of the ranch to her young friend Abigail. Abigail is excited to move from San Diego to the small community of Cypress Hollow, so she can get away from her ex-boyfriend and get a fresh start on life. Cade, on the other hand is not so happy because he thinks he’s entitled to all the land. When Abigail first arrives, she is forced to stay with Cade for the first month or so, while she fixes up the cottage – she plans to live in it and start a yarn shop there. Abigail and Cade feel a strong attraction to each other, but both try to deny it.I could see where How to Knit a Love Song by Rachael Herron was going right from the start. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it, because I did – I just didn’t love it. The narrative flowed well and kept my attention, but I found the characters frustrating at times. I wanted to tell them to grow up and learn to communicate. Overall, the story was a sweet, fast read. I was expecting to find more about knitting in the book than I did – there are directions for a “Lovesong” sweater at the end of the book. I think anyone looking for a light read and those who enjoy romance novels will enjoy this one.
