- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I think this might be the only time I have ever preferred the second installment in a series to the initial novel! How intriguing :) The Dark Glamour is just as much of a fast, fun read as 666 Park Avenue, but the plot and pace seem to have matured (or perhaps, fermented?) since the opening novel in the series. This is a wonderful novel to read on a bus, a train, or perhaps while in a hospital - really anyplace that you would rather not be. The story completely swallows you; it lifts you out of real time and, most likely, you will find that you don't mind a bit.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The second of the 666 Park Avenue Novels, this is the perfect follow-up to the first. It picks up where the first left off (and is probably more enjoyable for readers who've read the first, though Pierce does make some attempt to fill in readers new to the characters), and follows Jane through the maze of witches and socialites that has come to the point of threatening her life. Like the first, it's filled with glamour, suspense, danger, and romance, and it's incredibly quick moving. Though it took me some time to pick this one up once I'd read the first, I was once again so wrapped up in the stories and characters that I couldn't stop reading, and finished in only a few sittings.Simply, this isn't like the dark horror of the tv show that spun off from the series (and eventually brought me to the books), but these books are wonderful fun all on their own. I suppose you'd call them a sort of suspenseful chic-lit series revolving around a reluctant witch--they're certainly not horror. One way or another, though, they are fun, and I hope Pierce keeps with the characters...I'll be reading the next one soon. Highly recommended.

This is the second book in the "666 Park Avenue" series (book three is scheduled to be January 2, 2013). This one didn't grab me like the first did, and I found some of the themes a little tiring. The good points of the book is that it is a very easy read (took me a day), it is borderline mindless fluff, and it will in no way change your life. It had been a while since I read the first book, and Pierce did a nice job of summarizing characters and events that affected the story here.
The negatives are few, and just as shallow as the positives. Jane is annoyingly promiscuous. She is married to a man still in hiding, sleeping with another man while also wanting to sleep with her best friend's boyfriend. I mean, come on! And I really wanted some sort of mention of condom use. Instead, they rip their clothes off and he "takes her right away". Not good for the teens who are surely reading this.
I also wanted more of the matriarch, Lynne Doran's story. I found her to be the most interesting and complex character in the first book, and the mother/daughter relationship in this book would have provided a very rich and fertile area for exploration. Instead the relationship was restored and written as an assumption, which was completely unbelievable. The fact that it was left to the very end of the book also presented it as more of an afterthought.
The other negative was the abrupt ending. It really leaves you hanging in a way that the first one did not: While you knew there would be a sequel which would take the story farther, it didn't rush to the last page like a train wreck. I didn't consider this an intriguing twist or even a cliff hanger, so much as the author finished in a hurry and did so, in my opinion, a little recklessly. This caused so many loose ends of items that were not fully introduced that, instead of foaming at the mouth for the next book, I have more of an unsatisfied feeling.
Recommended if you need a quick read, but know that you will be left disappointed. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I borrowed the paperback version from the library. This was a bit slow in the first half of the book, but it made up for it in the last half. I couldn't put it down for about the last 100 pages. I just had to know what was going to happen next! I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5THE DARK GLAMOUR, by Gabriella Pierce, is the fantastic sequel to 666 Park Avenue. From the moment I finished 666 Park Avenue I was dying to read the next book. When I finally got my hands on it, I flew through it in one sitting and now I want the next one. This series is addictive, hilarious, packed with steamy romances and of course, witches! In the last book, we left Jane in Grand Central Terminal saying goodbye to her husband, Malcolm, who tore her heart to pieces when she found out he killed her grandmother, plotted with his mother to impregnate Jane with their bloodline, and then raise the baby in their family. In some ways Malcolm tried to redeem himself but could you honestly trust someone like that ever again? But in the beginning of this book Jane was pleasantly surprised when Malcolm came through for her with money and a secret that could shake Lynne off her back forever. With the help of her trustworthy witchy friends, Jane transforms into the exotic Ella and goes behind enemy lines to bring her life back to normal, or as normal as she could be. As Ella, Jane was able to infiltrate the Doran clan through the seductive Andre who also had his own agenda. Their relationship was electric from the start, but I never fully fell for this mysterious man as I did with Malcolm. Lies and deceit were the name of the game once again but at least Jane was in control, most of the time. She followed her heart and her strict deadline all the way to London and back to retrieve her bargaining chip. I loved how Pierce's writing allowed me to visualize every single detail of each environment without bogging me down with details. After what Malcolm did to Jane in the first book, I had switched sides to become a Harris-shipper. Their chemistry is delicious and fun, and more so because they both have witch bloodlines. I wanted to see more of him in this book but sadly I was disappointed. With the way this book ended, I hope (crossing fingers) for these two to have some sort of possibility in the next book.Overall, this was a great sequel to the series. There was never a dull moment and if you enjoyed the first you will definitely love this one!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Book Title: 666 Park AvenueAuthor: Gabriella PiercePublished By: William Morrow PaperbacksGenre: Paranormal RomanceRecommended Age: 16+Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavocBlog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary CommunityRating: 3 RavensWhen I first started reading this book I was pulled in, It’s a very good story and I have only a few complaints with it. First I will get out the complaints that way I can get on with the good. The author worked for detail and length however, I felt that some of her writing began to become repetitive while she was trying to pull her sources together. It got a little long in the tooth for detail leaving only what I felt was a rushed ending. I know that it’s left open for a sequel to the book but, I still felt there could have been a better ending point than where it was. With that being said I move on to say that I enjoyed the story and the direction it was flowing. It’s got characters that will be great in the coming novels I believe but until such time only we can see I hope that perhaps the hashing and rehashing of things in the next book will not be as long and we will see where this all goes. I look forward to seeing what this author can do and in the coming books this one was good just not one of the best I feel. However my opinion is only one and I’m sure you should pick it up and make one for yourself.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I'm not sure I'll read the third one in the series.
