INTRODUCTION TO
THE BODY REJUVENATION CLEANSE

Nature shows us life as a continuous cycle one season moving into the next, returning us back to the beginning with rebirth and renewal. Healing and cleansing your body can also follow nature’s cycle. Americans follow the latest fad diet in hopes of trimming down their ever-expanding bodies. In a natural cyclical pattern we trash our body and then we cleanse by dieting.
We consume foods because they stimulate the taste buds in what I call, recreational eating. We chose these foods, not for their nutritional content, but for their fast prep time. The inevitable results are weight gain, zero energy, and non-existent vitality. As our health declines, we become dependent on pharmaceutical drugs for symptoms that should be recognized as nutritional deficiencies. It is apparent to many that the food industry colors, preserves, and packages food without concern for nutrient value or purity of content but rather for eye appeal, addictive additives and longer shelf life.
After years of trashing your body on a diet of processed foods and feeling the effects in lack of energy, vitality, and mental clarity, it’s time to cleanse and Begin Again.
The Body Rejuvenation Cleanse is an education about your health and the effects of food on your system. It is the safest and most effective means in which to bring your internal ecology back into balance. What makes The Body Rejuvenation Cleanse different from a detox diet is how it allows for a slow transition over the course of five weeks. Most diet and detox programs throw you into a severely restricted diet regimen, resulting in extreme discomfort and detoxification reactions. The first two weeks of The Body Rejuvenation Cleanse is called The Transition Phase. During this time you slowly move from eating stress-causing foods to a higher quality, whole foods diet.
The two-week transition allows time to restock your kitchen pantry and explore new foods and tastes. You will be guided in a step-by-step process that allows your body to gently begin to cleanse without shocking the system by sudden changes in your diet.
In weeks three and four you move into The Cleansing Phase during which you further refine and redefine your food choices. WHY CLEANSE?
People with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and multiple chemical sensitivities appear to have an inability to properly detoxify chemicals and toxins. Scientific research shows there is also a link between chronic neurological diseases (Parkinson’s) and certain types of cancer, with a person’s inability to adequately detoxify. This research makes it obvious that if we don’t properly detoxify we can end up sick.
Detoxification goes on all the time in the body. This on-going process of detoxification deals with the many dangerous environmental chemicals we take in, as well as, chemicals made in the body when the break down of food occurs. Detoxification prevents the chemicals from causing damage and endangering cells. A damaged cell can lead to disease and cancer, especially if the immune system is not fully active and vigilant in its removal of abnormal cells. Unfortunately, too few people are introduced to detoxification as a way of maintaining health. They come to all forms of alternative medicine as a last resort
after their physical and material resources are drained. Because we know that health problems are multi-factorial and multi-faceted it’s important to find the means to treat the whole body and the whole person. A whole foods diet and regular cleansing program can best accomplish this.
In contrast, the medical scientific
approach favors addressing one symptom, giving one diagnosis, and offering one drug to cure
or suppress
the symptom, fostering unscientific poly-pharmacy. Whereas, one drug may be studied on a group of individuals, usually healthy white males, there are no studies showing what several drugs given together will do to an individual.
Detoxification, specifically, is the conversion of fat-soluble toxins into water soluble, non-toxic metabolites, eliminated by the excretory organs. The process reduces the biological half-life of the toxins, decreases the toxic exposure in order to avoid internal toxin accumulation. The simple fact that the body puts most of its attention on detoxifying fat-soluble toxins makes us understand where the body stores toxins –in the fat tissue of our body.
HOW WE ELIMINATE TOXINS
The organs of elimination include the liver, kidneys, bowel, lungs, and skin. The liver does 75 percent of the body’s detoxification with the additional 25 percent taking place in the intestinal mucosa wall. Detoxification enzymes are present in the tips of the microvilli, the hair-like extensions of the gut wall that absorb nutrients and break them down before absorption.
Gut micro floras also have a place in detoxification. They produce compounds that induce or inhibit detoxification. Good bacteria induce and bad bacteria or yeast inhibit detox pathways.
What does the body have to detoxify?
The list of environmental chemicals is nothing less than daunting. Mercury, lead, food additives, dyes, hormones, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, drugs, and petrochemicals preside invisibly in our air, water, and food supply.
What does our body do about this toxic overload?
We do have many natural mechanisms of detoxification. But thousands of years ago our bodies didn’t have to deal with such an onslaught. It could take thousands of years to adapt to all the new chemicals that confront us. In the meantime we need to intervene and support our body’s natural detoxification processes. Some sources say that 80% of the adult body’s resources are directed towards detoxification. The central nervous system uses 10 %, the immune system 5 %, and organ repair requires 5 % of the body’s total resources. These figures highlight the extreme importance of detoxification.
Let’s look at how the organs of detoxification work:
KIDNEYS
Filters waste from the blood and excretes them through urine.
INTESTINES
Extracts indigestible material and toxins from food and eliminates them through the bowel.
LUNGS
Eliminates carbon dioxide when breathing, while also eliminating any poisonous gases taken in through the breathing process.
SKIN
Eliminates toxins through the pores via sweat and skin oil (sebum).
LYMPH NODES
Filters impurities in the blood; waste from cell metabolism and toxins from the digestive tract. They collect waste and return it to the liver for detoxification.
LIVER
The main organ of detoxification, the liver handles 400 jobs to keep the body functioning properly. Some of those include:
