She was the nutritionist on Dr. Dean Ornish’s first clinical trial for reversing heart disease through lifestyle changes, Director of Nutrition on similar lifestyle research at cardiovascular clinics in Europe, and co-principal investigator on innovative research about eating styles that lead to overeating, overweight, and obesity, the results of which were published in Explore:The Journal of Science and Healing.
With more than three hundred published nutrition and health articles, Kesten is also the award-winning author of Feeding the Body, Nourishing the Soul, and The Healing Secrets of Food. Based on original research by Kesten and co-author Larry Scherwitz, PhD, her latest book is Make Weight Loss Last, which offers a comprehensive and evidence-based program for losing weight and keeping it off. Among Kesten’s accomplishments are contributions to scientific books and medical journals, and serving on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, San Francisco chapter.
