I've b...view moreI have a Master's degree in Education. I taught Early Childhood Special Education to preschoolers aged 3-5 years, for 25 years. I am a graduate of The Institute of Children's Literature. I've been published in the local Baton Rouge newspaper.I have taken post graduate literature classes including: The Author's Way Life Writing Poetry Writing I have lived my entire life in Baton Rouge, La. I was raised in a close- knit family consisting of myself and 4 siblings, all raised in a one-parent home by my mother (my father died when I was only 5.) The family situation was challenging and chaotic, but also fun and joyful. My greatest dream was to grow up and raise a family of my own, so I was devastated to find out I had cancer at age 24, followed by surgery that left me unable to have children. However, by the grace of God, through adoption, I was able to have my own unique family. After years of anxiously waiting, I ended up adopting not one, but two, day-old infant girls, within 3 months of each other. Today, my husband Mark and I are the proud parents of 2 wonderful "sweet-sixteen" year-olds! Their given names are Elizabeth and Sarah Ashley; their nicknames are 'Velvet' and 'Skye.'view less
