I was the youngest of four girls, and was not a Pom-Pom girl. Growing up I had more male friends, because my environment was a ‘gender petri dish,’ and I was living in it. It was exhausting! I decided to be observant of my gender, the ‘look at me’ and the ‘invisible.’ I fit in the middle. But I neglected to account for the opposite sex and how they factored into the game.
I was in a relationship where I was forced to be the decision maker and disciplinarian. The relationship left me feeling exhausted, and sex seemed creepy. On the other end of the spec trum, I was in a long-term relationship where I assumed a subservient role to a partner who demanded respect. It took me a while to figure out his lack of respect for me extended to my whole gender ... well, except for the smokin’ hot babe who just walked into the party! That always made for an interesting ride home.
Why is it that ‘high maintenance, look at me’ women get away with murder? I find it painful to watch men who take those women’s crap and condemnation like lovesick puppies. No one is so good in bed that they are worth tolerating their volcanic bad behavior for the other 23 hours of the day! Why do men find pleasure in controlling another human being, or animal, usually breaking their spirit. Why is this sick accomplishment fulfilling?
I’ve had my share of relationships; some men made me feel special and some were contin uously shopping for the next me. I learned to keep my eyes wide open. I’ve had my share of hopefuls and assholes. I learned my best plan for future happiness was me, myself and I. After my experiences, I found it amusing to watch the different genders and their relation ships ... what worked and what did not.
Make the decision to be fully responsible for YOUR own contentment. This is not only a choice, but a necessity for the survival of the sexes. Although men think women are com- plex, after studying my gender, I find men are wrong! Both sexes are complex and full of shit. I mean, if men could read women’s minds, and if woman really were the ‘dream girl’ men boast about in the locker room showers, the world would be all unicorns and rainbows. How boring! Humans thrive on the conflict, the complex problem solving and the satisfaction of completing the puzzle of life and love.
I am happily married with two grown, self-sufficient children. Everyone may choose to disagree with my thought process aimed at future happiness and it won’t keep me awake at night. My contribution to this book is to reign in the negative and instill hope and happiness. So reader, be aware, not beware! My responsibility is to help you find yourself, to help you honestly and willingly fix yourself. For you are no good to anyone else unless you understand your flaws, fix what you can and always maintain a willingness to compromise. Be observant of those in your personal space who have not yet completed this exercise.
