When Mom got home, the walls vibrated! She gave me some money and told me to go have the barber fix it. I marched up to the barber and showed him the money, and he asked what he was to do. I told him to butch it off. He said, "What?" I said, “Butch it off.” I was only seven; what did I know? So that is what he did. I got home, Mom took one look at me, and she turned and cried. Then she gave me a pair of my brother’s pants and said, "Here, Butch, put these on and give me your dress." And she gave me one of his shirt. All that summer, Mom called me Butch.view less
