Interacting and communicating through a worldwide dealer network, while employed by Volvo construction Equipment, put her in touch with people around the globe.
She also concurrently wrote newspaper theatre reviews and a horticultural column. As a ten year member of Toastmasters International she created and delivered speeches, served as Vice President of Education and a term as President of her local branch.
Early retirement allowed her to pursue her passion for creative writing. Following studies at the University of Western Ontario and QOC, The Writing School in Ottawa, she was awarded a certificate in Creative Writing.
Her first novel, Artful Deception, is a paranormal romance, Focused Desire, a contemporary romance and Retro Flex, a collection of short stories, soon to be published as an e-book on Smashwords. She recently published the first two of five comedy short stories as e-books, A Royal Scam and Venus Flytrap. The other three in the series Alien Christmas, Necessito un Medico and Mad Dogma will be released shortly.
Her interest in the unexplained (featured in Artful Deception) was addressed by membership in ‘Spiriquest’. This esoteric group delved into past-life regression, auras, mandalas, divining, meditating and Reiki, etc.
After completing two eight week lecture series on the philosophies of Swiss Psychologist, Carl Jung she was inspired to weave aspects of the collective unconscious, synchronicity, dreams, myths and symbolism into Artful Deception.
Extensive travel to Central and South America, the Caribbean, Cuba and the British Isles lends authenticity to scenes she sets in these far off lands.
Her heroes and villains alike are usually predatory Lotharios, more often than not with one track minds. Women find themselves longing for the warmth and thickness of their flesh and the strength in their arms.
Reta Ross is master of the romance genre, refusing to write to a formula, her unconventional approach imbues a breath of fresh air into a subject that can become hackneyed in the hands of a lesser scribe. Her talent for comedy is finding expression in a recent series of humorous short stories. They are as much a delight to her as to her readers.view less
