During the ‘90s, I established a successful information technology career, managing diverse project teams to deliver large-scale projects to Fortune 500 clients. I also owned two successful businesses in real estate and advertising.
Then the internet bubble burst in 2002. Like so many people, I watched my investments and early retirement dreams disappear.
At first, I was angry. I blamed everyone and everything. I even gave up on NLP.
There were consequences to my limiting emotions. Over the next year, my motivation plummeted. I felt stressed and overwhelmed. And I ballooned to 250 pounds – my heaviest weight ever. Bottom Line: I had fallen into a slump of self-pity.
In 2003, I decided to get my life back on track. I lost 50 pounds. And I replaced my misfortune mindset with a strong desire to help others who had experienced severe financial losses.
Over the next six years, I found renewed success coaching private clients using NLP. But deep down, I wanted to help so many more people. So I took the next step towards this goal.
In 2009, I started training to become a hypnotist and life coach. By 2011, I completed the required course work to become a Certified Professional Hypnotist and Certified Life Coach. And while these two disciplines may seem like an odd pair, they actually complement each other quite well.
At first, I focused on my hypnosis business, working with clients in a very traditional way. This is where you guide a person into a trance and give them beneficial suggestions. But I found the traditional method somewhat impersonal. Perhaps that’s why I always asked my clients so many questions. I really wanted to make sure I was solving the true issue.
By the end of 2011, I integrated my knowledge of managing people, projects and processes with hypnosis. The Result: I established the ‘Hypnosis Success Life Cycle’ – a systematic approach to creating truly personalized hypnosis solutions. In reality, I had developed an approach to hypnosis that integrated project management and life coaching strategies. I followed this up by launching my first website, delivering personalized NLP-Hypnosis solutions to help many more people.
Without a doubt, hypnosis is a valuable tool in my utility belt of life changing strategies. It has allowed me to help my clients overcome some pretty significant challenges rather quickly. And it has helped them to achieve the successes they truly desire and deserve.
But there's more to my story ...
Diagnosed with Alzheimers, my mother fell down her basement stairs, severely injuring her neck and spine. Despite emergency surgery, ‘mom’ would spend the remaining year of her life in and out of the hospital.
I felt the guilt of not being enough in terms of taking care of my mother, taking care of my job, taking care of my family, and taking care of my adult brother (Joe) with downs syndrome. Joe had lived with mom his entire life. They were inseparable until the accident. After Joe moved in with us (me, my wife and two children), I realized just how unprepared I was for taking care of a special needs individual.
My life quickly fell apart. Overwhelmed, I turned to life coaching for greater guidance. Through professional coaching, I discovered the strategies to restore my life and reveal a sense of purpose and strength.
Fast forward to the present. I’ve added a few more credentials to my belt. Today, I’m also a Certified Business Coach, Executive Leadership Coach, and Strategic Intervention Coach. Coaching may be my focus now. But I still use hypnosis and NLP whenever the need arises.
Currently, I’m writing a book on accessing one's CORE - the essence of who we are - to succeed big in life. This book will feature "approved quotes and stories" from some of the greatest leaders of our time. These leaders include His Holiness Pope Francis, His Holiness The Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, Pat Summitt, Mark Cuban, Donald Trump, George Foreman, Margaret Wheatley, Ken Blanchard, J.K. Rowling, Harvey Mackay, Christopher Reeve, Emmitt Smith, Rudy Ruettiger, Wally “Famous” Amos and others.
Every challenge is an opportunity for new possibilities.
Are you ready for possibility?
Good luck!
