Frank Elliott Sisson II was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, although his family had long time roots in New Bedford. His family also has a history in the whaling business and his g...view moreFrank Elliott Sisson II was born in Brockton, Massachusetts, although his family had long time roots in New Bedford. His family also has a history in the whaling business and his great grandfather was the whaling master and captain of the whaleship Milo. Frank grew up in a number of different cities from New England to the Deep South. When his father died, the family returned to New Bedford and then to Woods Hole, where Frank graduated from Lawrence High School in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Frank is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He went into the US Air Force after graduation and earned his USAF pilot certificate. He flew combat missions in Korea and Vietnam and retired from the service in 1969.
Frank lives with his wife, Anne, in Wichita, Kansas, where he founded and headed an aviation marketing firm. He retired from this business in 2005 and began writing A Ransomed Yankee. Three of their grown children live in New England, and one lives in Omaha, Nebraska.view less
