He retired after many years teaching at both the secondary and university levels.His professional areas of expertise and research are in listening, semantics, and interpersonal trust/relationship.
Dr. Bohlken has published more than twenty academic journal articles,presented papers at more than forty academic conferences, and made over one hundred service, social club and school presentations. He is an entertaining and thought-provoking speaker/lecturer/children’s reading
specialist.
He authored three booklets:

How to Talk Rural Northwest Missouri Talk
He is a member of the International Listening Association, International Society of General Semantics, National Communication
Association, and a life member of the Optimist International Service Club. He is a Korean War veteran and has been a longtime member of the American Legion.
