Hard-boiled page-turner…

A hit man with a heart of gold. An honorable Iraq war vet-turned-assassin about to retire after one last job. An unlikely pair thrown together on a quest for revenge and redemption. You may think you’ve heard this one before, but Stephen King masterfully turns all the hard-boiled crime tropes on their head in this thrilling noir page-turner. Do yourself a favor: Make this summer a “Billy Summers.”

Descrizione

Master storyteller Stephen King, whose “restless imagination is a power that cannot be contained” (The New York Times Book Review), presents an unforgettable and relentless #1 New York Times bestseller about a good guy in a bad job.

Billy Summers is a man in a room with a gun. He’s a killer for hire and the best in the business. But he’ll do the job only if the target is a truly bad guy. And now Billy wants out. But first there is one last hit. Billy is among the best snipers in the world, a decorated Iraq war vet, a Houdini when it comes to vanishing after the job is done. So what could possibly go wrong?

How about everything.

This spectacular can’t-put-it-down novel is part war story, part love letter to small town America and the people who live there, and it features one of the most compelling and surprising duos in King fiction, who set out to avenge the crimes of an extraordinarily evil man. It’s about love, luck, fate, and a complex hero with one last shot at redemption.

You won’t forget this “noirish, unputdownable thriller” (People), and you won’t forget Billy.

Billy Summers is the story of a hitman who has to write as a cover while he waits to carry out a big hit. He begins to write a thinly veiled version of his life story and decides that he will continue with it. After the hit he begins to notice that the getaway plan is sketchy. He must go into hiding. A very interesting and original story by King.

Maybe my favorite Stephen King book ever. Could not stop listening. Such a great story addressing several contemporary issues. Get this one.

This book has intrigue and suspense that had me on the edge of my seat with just a mere mention of something possibly supernatural briefly thrown in. It is not the typical “horror/supernatural” that I’m used to from King and that was a great relief. The story was very believable and I found myself really becoming attached to bad man Billy Summers. I really think this is the best Stephen King book I have ever read although I have only read 7 or 8 of them in total. I believe Stephen King is a brilliant story teller and a writing genius and I highly recommend this book. Five stars for this one!
