About this audiobook

The widowed Charlotte Collins, bereft widow of Mr. Collins of Pride and Prejudice infamy, is starting to think that being a dowager suits her quite well. Freshly enchanted with Angelo Ossoli, an Italian professor who found friends among the culture-hungry residents of Hertfordshire, Charlotte is starting to weigh the benefits of possibly re-marrying. When she was young and had no prospects (including being told by everyone around her that she was “plain”), she’d married Mr. Collins as a way to escape her parents’ home—and it certainly hadn’t been a marriage built on love. Charlotte’s newfound independence as mistress of Longbourn estate, however, has given her the independence she always craved, but now she wonders if she has room in her newly independent heart for true love. When Angelo offers his home and company for a stay in Florence, Charlotte must consider whether she is willing to completely reshape her life around her Florentine love. And when Angelo begins to reveal some secrets about his family lineage, Charlotte must also consider whether an English country lady could ever find a home in the Italian aristocracy.

    2 Thousand Negative stars!

I am worse for choosing this hot trash of a book! BAH, burn it !!
I can not stand these pompous authors who take beloved characters and make a lousy attempt to write a back story. The audacity of this truly pathetic story of Mrs Collins from Austen's pride and prejudice was too much to bear. I mean, come on, sensible Charlotte Collins canoodling with an italian nobody ? Never mind the title of "duke" that was slapped on him so we readers could somehow consent to this tomfoolery??

I try to give these authors a chance over and over, but they faithfully disappoint. They want the easy way out of writing an actual story, so they seek to adopt Jane Austen's devoted audience. Fire pon dem! Offensive twisting of characters to suit modern machinations and tainted imaginations. Miranda's stories are for the trash.

No, NO and a thousand times no! I hope that many swords pierce the soul of this book and rip it into innumerable shreds. I couldn't get away from this story fast enough as it was impossible to finish

Straight to the fire this one belongs. May this book burn to ash!

I am not one who refrequently writes reviews but am moved to express how throughly I enjoyed this story. I can see the respect for Jane Austen in the continuation of the development of her characters. While the light that this paints Jane and Elizabeth in did give me surprise and pain I am able to see past it the creative decision and appreciate the journey that this author took us on. The character development of Charlotte was relatable and as a woman I enjoyed the themes explored in this piece. I am excited to read more from the author.

While I want Charlotte Collins to have a happily ever after, the very thought of her ruining her reputation or the chances of her child having respectability as an adult are all thrown away by the author. Charlotte behaves like a careless adult, who sheds all propriety to take a walk on the wild side. I don’t really see a minister’s widow in that time period being so devoid of character and the original Charlotte was certainly no feminist. It paints Lizzy and Jane in a way that I really dislike, as if they are high class snobs because they care about the reputation of their friend.

It’s so unrealistic to the period & unfaithful to the work of Jane Austen. My love for Jane Austen’s work makes me dislike this storyline.
