About this audiobook
When the scandal sheet reports a sighting of Nicolas Ives climbing out the chamber windows of a house party, Maryann does the unthinkable. She anonymously claims that the bedchamber belonged to none other than Miss FitzWilliam, tarnishing her own reputation-and chances of the dastardly union her family secured for her. Now she just needs to convince the marquess to keep his silence.
Nicholas Ives, Marquess of Rothbury has purposefully cultivated a reputation as the most ruthless, unprincipled libertine, all so he can slip beneath the guards of those whose vile actions caused him to lose the only girl he's ever loved. Despite his intrigue, Nicolas is determined to ignore the deceitful and enticing Miss FitzWilliam. However, his enemies are drawing close, and he soon discovers he must keep her closer to protect her.
Contains mature themes.

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and adore writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese Anime and playing video games with my love. I also have a horrible weakness for Ice cream. :)

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very much enjoyed the story as I do with all of Stacy Reid’s books with the exception of book one in this series. The one thing I don’t like and the reason I subtracted one star is the narrator. Her voice is fine but her manner of speaking is like nails on a chalk board. The way she whispers is like she’s trying to be sexy and seductive at all times, even fir the males voices and it’s just annoying. The way she draws out and over annunciates each word is annoying. I would have enjoyed the book far more if it wasn’t for the narrator. Unfortunately she is the narrator for all the books in this series. Ugh!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Nicholas and Marianne were a very lovely and lively couple. Loved the book. And Marianne was right, her brother was not a bad mad .... At the end. We all make mistakes. The reader's voice is the worst part of the reading experience for me though

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Have read this book before and now read it again because I am absolutely amazed at the narrator's voice. I love her presentation and how versatile and dramatic her voice can be.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5LOVE IT!!!! The unexpected turn constantly surprised me. Never a slow moment. Will read again and again.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this story so much that even the terrible narrator, and a monologuing villain couldn’t ruin it for me.
Nicholas St Ives is now the standard to which I hold all historical romance hero’s to. He was an avenging angel-type character, getting revenge against people who wronged a beloved childhood friend of his - and boy was it satisfying every time he took another player off the board.
The story has a ‘13 Reasons Why’ feel to it, with the childhood friend leaving behind a note that cryptically identifies the people at fault. And Nicholas is the human embodiment of ‘F around and find out’.
Reid did a great job of creating tension between the couple by insinuating that the heroines brother may have been involved in that long ago atrocity.
She also wrote a story that isa subtle but brilliant social commentary on a patriarchal upper class society’s response to crimes committed against those that the Ton feels are beneath them.
I loved the cat-and-mouse feel to the relationship between our couple and their entertaining banter. And of course their steamy scenes, which were top notch.
Content warnings:
⚠️implied gang rape
⚠️mention of suicide - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/52nd book in the series did not disappoint. I love the bit of mystery in this one.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This wasn't romantic. 80% of the story is about rape while neither of the main characters has experienced it. It's a story about someone who's not on the page. I've loved other books by Stacy Reid but this one was a disappointment.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Not as good as My Darling Duke. Too much about the revange and the many enemies. I couldn't make head or tail of it. The couple was great though.
Reading the comments about the reader of My Darling Duke I was surprised. They were so negative. I had enjoyed the actress.
This time I noticed the affected acting. It was good and romantic when talking about the couple but inappropriate otherwhise.
Loved it. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was one of my favorite reads. I just couldn't put the book down.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was lovely!!! >..<
The only problem I had was Nicholas bemoaning so much his "mistake" and how single-minded he was with his actions...it was cute in the beginning but by the end I was tired of it. He was getting away with waaaay to much in my opinion..>..>
Everything else was great! The relationship between Maryann and Nicholas was amazing! The banter in the beginning, the passion when they finally acknowledged what they felt and the activities after! >..>
I loved how Maryann's brother tied into the plot and how David acted...I kind of wanted more from Standford...but yeah...amazing story of revenge and love! ^^
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5i will never shut up about this book. the way maryann & nicolas fall in love is so. soft & fragile & absolutely marvelous.
