About this audiobook
Meet mythology's fifty fiercest females in this modern retelling of the world's greatest legends.
From feminist fairies to bloodsucking temptresses, half-human harpies and protective Vodou goddesses, these are women who go beyond long-haired, smiling stereotypes. Their stories are so powerful, so entrancing, that they have survived for millennia. Lovingly retold and updated, Kate Hodges places each heroine, rebel, and provocateur firmly at the center of their own narrative. Players include:
- Bewitching, banished Circe, an introvert famed and feared for her transfigurative powers.
- The righteous Furies, defiantly unrepentant about their dedication to justice.
- Fun-loving Ame-no-Uzume who makes quarreling friends laugh and terrifies monsters by flashing at them.
- The fateful Morai sisters who spin a complex web of birth, life, and death.
Find your tribe, fire your imagination, and be empowered by this essential anthology of notorious, demonized, and overlooked women.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I did not expect this to be a feminist tract. That's okay, but not what I thought the book would be. Also the author has a strange accent lol
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Warriors, Witches, Women: Mythology's Fiercest Women is a brief overview of the most common women of myth, legend, and folklore from all around the globe. Each segment offers the background of the figure in question, followed by the author's deeper research, and littered with the her fascinating opinions on how each woman might be perceived and worshipped in a modern setting, and going as far as connecting them to the lives of women in real life.
I enjoyed reading this. It was great to learn about all of these strong and mighty figures women from the past and present have looked to for advice and inspiration. I feel inspired myself. It's unapologetically feminist. However, the author sometimes strays a little too far (for me at least) into the theme of men being inherently evil beings which is why I'm only ratings this four stars.2 people found this helpful

I liked the concept of the book and what it was able to achieve. Unfortunately, most of its claims are mere speculations as they were not supported by any concrete evidence or reliable resources.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very interesting, I love the cultural commentary and the updates about how many are still worshipped.
