- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Phenomenal contemporary romance. This book has all my favorites. The grumpy one who falls for the sunshine one. The uptight Brit with the sexy voice. The “oh no, there’s only one bed trope” which leads to the “grumpy insomniac can only sleep when she is in his arms” trope. There is humor. There are “almost kisses” in the rain. There is banter and friends, some laugh out loud moments, and a sexy, bossy hero in reading glasses who knows when to say “good girl” and threaten a playful spanking. The sexy times take quite a while to happen in this book, but the tension and build up means when it happens, it is not only hot, but deeply meaningful. The chemistry and love between these characters feels both natural (and despite the whole rock star scene) realistic.
The narration was first rate. Highly recommend this book if you are a fan of contemporary romance with nice people. This isn’t particularly dark, and even though the H sticks his foot in his mouth and is incredibly uptight and somewhat emotionally stunted to start, nobody here is abusive or vicious.
