About this audiobook

"An irresistible queer romance." —Publishers Weekly, starred review

It’s not long before their pet-centric arrangement sparks a person-centric desire…

Simon Burke has always preferred animals to people. When the countdown to adopting his own dog is unexpectedly put on hold, Simon turns to the PetShare app to find the fluffy TLC he’s been missing. Meeting a grumpy children’s book illustrator who needs a dog walker isn’t easy for the man whose persistent anxiety has colored his whole life, but Jack Matheson’s menagerie is just what Simon needs.

Four dogs, three cats and counting. Jack’s pack of rescue pets is the only company he needs. But when a bad fall leaves him with a broken leg, Jack is forced to admit he needs help. That the help comes in the form of the most beautiful man he’s ever seen is a complicated, glorious surprise.

Being with Jack—talking, walking, making out—is a game changer for Simon. And Simon’s company certainly…eases the pain of recovery for Jack. But making a real relationship work once Jack’s cast comes off will mean compromise, understanding and lots of love.

Carina Adores is home to romantic love stories where LGBTQ+ characters find their happily-ever-afters.

Roan Parrish

Roan Parrish lives in Philadelphia, where she’s gradually attempting to write love stories in every genre. When not writing, she can be found cutting her friends’ hair, meandering through the city while listening to torch songs and melodic death metal, or cooking overly elaborate meals. She loves bonfires, winter beaches, minor chord harmonies, and self-tattooing. One time she may or may not have baked a six-layer chocolate cake and then thrown it out the window in a fit of pique.

Easy and sweet romance with too much smut than I cared for. Insta attraction is not my thing though. 3, 5 for its sweetness.

I enjoyed this book with Simon, Jack and the pack of animals, all their names and personalities were hilarious!!
Jack learned to trust again due to Simon and Simon learned he was able to have a life with a boyfriend. I would have liked to know more of Simon's disorder and maybe meet his parents, his grandmother was sweet and the only supportive part of his family. Jack had his brother Charlie, who's story I'm looking forward to reading next!!

It took me a while to get invested with the story and the characters (for no particular reason) but after that everything went smoothly.
First things first: there are dogs.
Also, I loved the representation of a character who has anxiety. AND who isn't cured magically by the Happily Ever After.
All in all it's exactly what I crave and enjoy: a healthy, tender, sweet and passionate relationship between these two men.

We all need to find our version of Garnet Run. Jack is a bit frustrated after a fall with his beloved dogs has him in a cast. Challenged by not being able to walk them or get around very well. He decides to hire a dog walker. When they arrive it's the most beautiful man Jasck has ever seen. Simon is anxious and awkward at the first meet but feels something too. Over their love of dogs the become friends and soon more. It's spicy and sweet and you will wanna hug them both in the end. Another beautifully formed story by Roan Parrish with loveable characters in a small town I think we would all like to visit.
