About this audiobook
In The Liturgy of Politics, Schiess shows that the church's politics are shaped by its habits and practices, even when it's unaware of them. Spiritual formation, and particularly a focus on formative practices, are experiencing a renaissance in Christian thinking-but these ideas are not often applied to the political sphere. Schiess insists that the way out of our political morass is first to recognize the formative power of the political forces all around us, and then to recover historic Christian practices that shape us according to the truth of the gospel.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was thought provoking, heart wrenching, and inspired a lot of personal reflection. The author writes clearly and candidly about the difficult place the Church in America finds herself in this present political moment, while also maintaining a deep sense of trust in the goodness of God and hope for the future. As a lay leader in the Church I will be referencing the practical suggestions in this book for a long time to come.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5If you aren’t a Christian, and I mean a regular church attending Christian, who is not deconstructing, believes that every word of the Bible is inerrant, and has no questions that Christianity is the only true, saving religion, and that Christians have a responsibility to Save the world, don’t bother with this book. The author isn’t wrong about some of the places Christians have gone wrong politically, but as a TRUE BELIEVER (all caps very much intended), she doesn’t push far enough.
