About this audiobook

Two strangers...

When accountant Makenna James finds herself stranded in a pitch-black elevator, she can’t help but wonder about the stranger stuck with her. All she noticed about him before the lights went out was a dragon tattoo; all she knows now is his sexy, gruff voice in the darkness.

Four hours...

Caden Grayson is inked, pierced, scarred on the inside and out—and terrified of the dark for reasons he’d rather not remember. Trapped in his worst nightmare, only the sweet voice of the red-headed beauty distracts him from his fear. And, oh, man, as the hours pass and the darkness heats up, that’s nothing compared to her touch.

One pitch-black elevator...

He’s all rough edges and she’s pin-striped skirts, but in the darkness they open up and reach out without any preconceptions to hold them back. But as attraction grows and sparks fly, will they feel the same when the lights come back on?

Did this book change my life? No. Was it a good palate cleanser? Yes.

The premise is interesting and it's executed well enough. The chemistry is there and the instant lust/like doesn't strike too much. The only true discouraging aspect is the 3rd person narration, it's just too inferior to the 1st for me.

Will I jump into the 2nd book right away? Yes. I wanna meet the brothers ?

Hearts In Darkness is one of those stories that touches your heart, makes you ponder, and leaves a smile on your face for the rest of the day.
The novella begins with two people whose outward appearance is as different as night and day. Makenna is stylish, tailored, attractive, and well-groomed, albeit slightly frazzled. On the other hand, Caden is a nonconformist with tattoos, piercings, and a shaved head. Within seconds of Makenna entering an elevator that Caden was already in, the elevator stops, the lights go out, and the two are left together in the dark. Neither has had an opportunity to get more than a glimpse of the other. What ensues is a touching, emotional, and highly sensual connection between two people who find they admire each other and have much in common because they are not bound by preconceived notions that all too often blind us all.
The author had the ability to easily transport me into Makenna’s and Caden’s worlds. I loved their banter, their insecurities, their erotically charged chemistry, and their honesty. In short, I was highly invested in this book’s wonderful but complex characters and in their emotional and extremely sensual story.
I loved everything about this sweet but highly erotic book. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Sweet, hot and intense. It was a novella so there isn't the development you'd expect from a novell. That being said, I'm pretty satisfied with what we got. I actually think the characters weren't just 2D and cliché. About the sex scenes I have the total amount of: 0 complaints. Non whatsoever. And I'm all here for the representation of a male character with tattoes, piercings and shaved. Not exactly my type but glad to see them representated non the less!
