About this audiobook
In Wendy Walker's thrilling novel Don't Look for Me, the greatest risk isn’t running away. It’s running out of time.
One night, Molly Clarke walked away from her life.
She doesn't want to be found.
Or at least, that's the story.
The car abandoned miles from home.
The note found at a nearby hotel.
The shattered family that couldn’t be put back together.
They called it a “walk away.”
It happens all the time.
Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over.
But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke?

Don’t Look For Me is:
“Exemplary. Distinctive, well-developed characters complement the skillfully paced plot. This moving look at the bond between a mother and her children reinforces Walker’s place at the top of the genre.”
--Publishers Weekly, starred review
“GRIPPING...WITH UNEXPECTED TWISTS... You’ve got a cracking mystery on your hands.”
--Adrian McKinty, author of The Chain
“A NAILBITER . . . SO MUCH MORE THAN A TWISTY THRILLER. It’s a heartbreaking portrait of a family coping with grief and an insightful study of guilt and blame, gaslighting and agency. If you
love fast-paced page-turners with relatable, flawed characters, look no further!”
--Angie Kim, author of Miracle Creek

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5"Great Expectations" is the name of a well-known Charles Dickens book and it's also the two words that describe the feelings that I had when I began this book. Yes, I am a HUGE Wendy Walker fan and had been enthusiastically awaiting her newest 2020 release.
Also, I almost always love books with wives who just "walk away" from their families with "Don't Look For Me" messages. This, too, was also why I had been really looking forward to delving into Wendy Walker's new book.
Unfortunately, my great expectations were never met. I just finished the book and I was very disappointed -- mostly because I knew that Wendy Walker could do better. Much, much better.
The book was 9 hours and 51 minutes long. The book suffered from much repetition and overlap and easily could have been 2 hours shorter.
The book was told from the alternating perspectives of the abducted mother and daughter and the book would have benefited from two different narrators instead of one. (Why didn't the publisher do this???) Frequently, I wasn't sure who was speaking when a new chapter began and it took time to figure this out. Also, the author used two similar names for her characters (the daughter was "Nic" and the abductor was frequently referred to as "Mick"), and when other characters in the book were talking about "Nic" and "Mick", it was difficult to quickly distinguish which character was being referenced.
Overall, I felt that the plot was very forced, convoluted, and just dragged on and on. To avoid spoilers, I will not give examples. I did listen to the book in its entirety and I was actually grateful when it FINALLY ended.
Wendy Walker is a gifted writer. My very, very, very favorite Wendy Walker book was "All Is Not Forgotten" and that is the book that I can highly recommend with great confidence. If you do read that book, be prepared to be totally traumatized.
Sorry, Wendy Walker, don't look for a 5-star review for "Don't Look For Me". I would have loved to have given your new book a 5-star review, but I just could not do it this time.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Definitely a good read. Great plot + characters + twists. Wonderful narration too!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a story! It gave me Misery vibes from the beginning and a shocking twist at the end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was a dark and stormy night when Molly Clarke disappeared. All evidence points to her having walked away from her life, and who could blame her? Tragedy had overwhelmed all else and it would make sense for her to want to leave it all behind her, especially after a particularly nasty argument with her daughter, Nicole. But of course the most obvious answer isn't always the correct one. And as Nicole tries to piece together what happened to Molly we get a twisty, turny psychological thriller of a book that kept me engaged and guessing. I don't want to say much more, because I don't want to give anything away. But I definitely recommend this one for anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing a copy for an unbiased review. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Book was too long, I got bored toward the end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere and suspense created throughout this novel. The alternative POVs really worked well in telling an all-encompassing story that came full circle at the end.
