How to Marry a Marquess
Author

Stacy Reid

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and adore writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese Anime and playing video games with my love. I also have a horrible weakness for Ice cream. :)

Hmmm... I've only just started to read it, but I'm REALLY not enjoying the paedophilia angle that the story has started on...

I know they were different times, but no... no & hell no!

It's only because I know that they don't get together until she's in her 20s that I'm even considering finishing the book, but already I'm disliking it a LOT!

Have finished listening & it didn't get any better for me.

Him constantly going on that he'd lusted after her for 6 years... she was 15 & he'd been 24 when they met... still HELL to the no, for me!

For me, it was such a wasted opportunity from the author... the story of friends to lovers could've been the best of the series, but it was the worst for me...

He could've met her at 15, felt an affinity for her & seen her like a little sister & with the years started seeing her as a woman, but definitely NOT "got rock hard" for her when he 1st met her when she was FIFTEEN!

Also, I liked that he did his best to keep her at bay due to his bad reputation, but his excuse that he was saving her from scandal completely fell apart IMO, when they were caught & he knew it would be a scandal (especially as he'd not only "compromised her", but had actually probably impregnated her) & his response is "do you really think I'd marry you just because we were seen together?"
Say what now...?!?! Evie, girl... RUN!

I think the author really does believe that an I love you at the end undoes all the extremely problematic & downright abusive actions of her heroes &/or heroines...

    It really doesn't...

Unexpectedly brilliant. A lot more than just a historical romance. Evie is not just another headstrong woman, she has depth. Definitely read this.

I really liked this book. The living conditions and problems of the lower classes/poor were a main plot line of the story and the way Evie and Richard came to their happy ending was more complicated, for lack of a better phrase than most romance novels. This is my favorite book in this series so far. I'm off to Book 4 now and I'm adding Stacy Reid to my list of authors to follow and support.
