    For me, the best kind of contemporary romance is a blend of relatable protagonists, a well-defined range of secondary characters, a believable internal and external conflict, and plenty of hot sex scenes. Charish Reid’s “Hearts on Hold” has all of that: It’s about a buttoned-up professor with family issues who meets a laid-back librarian when she is looking to partner with the local library on community outreach. And then she partners with the librarian himself. In the stacks. On the desk. In their beds.
