About this audiobook

Hold on to your hats: The authors who brought you the New York Times bestseller My Plain Jane, which Booklist praised as “delightfully deadpan” (starred review) and Publishers Weekly called “a clever, romantic farce” (starred review), are back with another irreverent historical adventure.

Welcome to 1876 America, a place bursting with gunslingers, outlaws, and garou—better known as werewolves.

And where there are garou, there’re hunters: the one and only Calamity Jane, to be precise, along with her fellow stars of Wild Bill’s Traveling Show, Annie Oakley and Frank “the Pistol Prince” Butler.

After a garou hunt goes south and Jane finds a suspicious-like bite on her arm, she turns tail for Deadwood, where there’s talk of a garou cure. But rumors can be deceiving—meaning the gang better hightail it after her before they’re a day late and a Jane short.

In this perfect next read for fans of A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, bestselling authors Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows, and Brodi Ashton bring their signature spark to the side-splittin’, whopper-filled (but actually kind of factual?) tale of Calamity Jane.

The Lady Janies are made up of New York Times bestselling authors Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows. They first met in 2012, when their publishers sent them on a book tour together, and they hit it off so well they decided to write My Lady Jane so they could go on book tours together all the time. Between the three of them they’ve written more than twenty published novels, a bunch of novellas, a handful of short stories, and a couple of really bad poems. They’re friends. They’re writers. They’re fixing history by rewriting one sad story at a time. Learn more at ladyjanies.com.

    My Calamity Jane

This book was so good! I loved it so much. The narrator was easy to listen to & the story flowed well.

This is the story of the Calamity Jane & her friends/family of the Wild Bill's Wild West show. It's also the story of how werewolves were part of the Old Wild West.

    Truly a great read.

This book got away with using the phrase, “Ride like the wind, Bullseye!”, and so many more pop culture quotes that I laughed the whole way through this book. Cannot wait for the series about famous Mary’s to start later this year.

History is always so much more fun when you toss in the random paranormal element! Calamity Jane and Annie Oakley make this tale so fun - such differing women yet both strong and unafraid to reach for what they want.

This wasn't my all-out favorite of the series, but I will keep reading ANYTHING by the Lady Janies. I am a devoted fan of their style: the asides from the authors, the imaginative creature world interacting with human world, the kindness in the story.

Part of the The Lady Janies series, this book intrigued me. As with all of the books, this is set in an alternative history touched by the paranormal. In this case, we are dealing with werewolves and werewolf hunters. The book picks up at the point before the death of Wild Bill Hickok. It also includes Annie Oakley and Frank Butler. The humor is helped some by familiarity with Annie Get Your Gun. I have to admit to laughing out loud at some of it. And when I check the actual history, it is neatly woven into the alternate history story. Just add werewolves. Historical purists might note that there are some different attitudes toward Native Americans than the original people likely held; to me that is a positive.I would recommend this for people who like alternate histories with humor and a touch of the paranormal.
