About this audiobook

Recorded in 1980 in San Francisco, Ram Dass gives a glimpse into one of his more challenging experiences as a teacher. His humanity and humor come through in this transcribed excerpt from his workshop on Relationships:

"I found myself a couple of years ago in Hawaii, on an island in Hawaii, where I had been invited to a meditation group. I thought, “Gee. Wonderful, They will fly me to this island.” I had never seen this island. I was met and taken up into the mountains into a plantation way in the back woods.

The whole thing started to feel a little weird to me, and it turned out that they were an intensive group encounter group and there were about thirty of them. They had been together for years..."

This is this is the first time I heard him on the radio. It was really weird, I grew up in the 60s, hung out in Laguna and Hermosa Beach and partied. Did a little bit of acid, and talked like him! That was weird. Kind of took me back there. In some ways I thought he still acted the same way as he did back then. But with sincerity, realness. But to get to the broadcast, . . .

But I have been searching for a deeper personal faith. I always have, but tried to find it in the organized religion churches. What I got out of this the most, is looking within for the source, deeper faith and living it peacefully.

He answered questions from callers calling in. It's hard for me to explain. I did get a lot out of this spiritually.

I listen to audiobooks at night now, and realizing as when I went to church two or three times a week, that to rebuild my faith and improve my walk, need to be open, meditate, and do the work daily now, for myself, to grow spiritually. I'm learning a new way of praying, of spirituality. He spoke on that, it was very very interesting. But many pray for their issues for themselves or direct families. He prayed daily for other's.

I recommend listening to it, I think everyone would get something out of it.
