About this audiobook

For the town of Randall, Arizona, the terror starts quietly, oddly—a senile woman in her eighties becomes pregnant. Then the town's beloved minister mysteriously disappears, leaving his church and home hideously defiled by blasphemous obscenities scrawled in blood. Farmers going out to their fields in the morning find their herds of goats slaughtered. Then, as the terror intensifies, the farmers themselves are massacred. The town begins to smell of death, and the trust which has bound neighbors to one another turns to ashes. But the relentless tide of death is only an augury of a far more unspeakable cataclysm. A stranger arrives, an itinerant preacher with mad eyes and an elemental presence named Brother Elias. He seeks out three men: the sheriff, tough, no nonsense Jim Weldon; the new minister, a gentle God-fearing soul named Father Andrews; and Gordon Lewis, a young newlywed whose pregnant wife Marina is the unknowing center of the coming fury. Together, these people must face an implacable force of evil as old as the world and as relentless as the desert sun...

Another great listen from Bentley Little. His ability to weave a story from facts, tales, religion & imagination is spellbinding.

I’m on chapter 14, after MANY false starts and stops, I just can’t get into it! The characters are so bland, and the creepiness factor negligible so far. I gave it several shots, I just couldn’t. Sorry Author, I know you put a lot into this. It just didn’t work for me. What year was it set in? Certainly at least 20yrs ago. Why? Weird.

I love this guys works, but this has a few loose ends. I want to know how this group of bible thumping hicks had the level of technology they did? Where was the tech center located? Maybe it's time for a sequel?

    Holy cow...another
unpredictable horror story from Bentley little. Where does this man come up with these senearios. Exciting, gripping and powerful visuals. His writing is strong, and the narrator's read takes it up an notch. I loved it but this is NOT FOR NON-HORROR BUFFS! If you are not capable of enjoying top notch blood and gore than do not start this audio book. Bentley Little takes chances with what some people might consider taboo topics but he does go there and he does it masterfully. You will never say, you've seen that done before with him. With this narrator the two are a match made in h..... you know where.

I've read about 10 BL novels and this one is one of my favorites. I don't know if it's just me but some parts make me laugh so hard and I'm not sure they're supposed to be funny parts but this narrator who does a lot of his books is great and how he says some sentences make me bust out laughing when I'm not sure if I was actually reading it would have the same effect. Anyway his formula is pretty much the same throughout the books I've read but I enjoy most of them anyway. I like the creature/supernatural books better than the books like The Store.

Unfortunately I have the same problem with all Bentley little books they start out great and I think it's going to be an amazing read and then the story just goes so far left and crazy out there that I am left confused and disappointed by the end I guess that this author is just not for me

    Great premise that went downhill.

    Spoiler alert:
An army of stabbing fetuses. Really, Dude?

The idea was fantastic, but the skill level was not.
