About this audiobook
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo - Book Summary - Readtrepreneur
(Disclaimer: This is NOT the original book, but an unofficial summary.)
Does spring cleaning always seem to go bad? No matter how many times you clean up the entire house does the same mess reappear every time? The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up is a step-by-step book which takes cleaning to the next level. Marie Kondo invented a revolutionary method for organizing the entire house called the KonMari method.

"Tidying is the act of confronting yourself; cleaning is the act of confronting nature" - Marie Kondo
Tidying orders the mind while cleaning purifies it. It is really pure illusion if we think that our mind can be clear and be at peace when our house is messy. If you've tried all the other cleaning methods taught by other "gurus", give the KonMari method one last chance... one last chance to purify your house once and for all. Organizing and tidying the house could be fun and fulfilling with the KonMari method. You don't give up on your child when they're learning to walk, so why give up on your house when it's not organized?
P.S. The KonMari method which will be taught even in this summary book might seriously take organizing your house to the next level. What's the worst that could happen anyway?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I borrowed this book, read the whole thing in a sitting, and then decided to buy a copy several months later. This is a book I return to when I don't know where to start; it is both inspiring and practical. I keep it out to remind me to declutter, and to encourage me when I'm struggling. Try to "suspend your disbelief" when Kondo greets her house or describes certain folding as stressing her socks. She's not crazy - she just uses poetic language. But a lot of people are very literal and get so caught up in the fact that socks can't have emotions that they don't take a beautiful and well-written book seriously. Another way to put it - balling up your socks does stress them; it places force on the elastic all the time. And if you want to save money and have your belongings last, storing them in a way that doesn't stretch them out can be useful. I love that her style never shames people; she argues that most people never learned to declutter, so we needn't feel bad if we are having a rough time of it.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Marie Kondo is truly a life changer. I haven’t really watched any of her videos until I listened to this audio book. Whenever I try to de-clutter, I’m being distracted by nostalgia. Instead of finishing the task at hand, I happily take a trip down the memory lane and decide to keep everything instead of letting it go. As what Marie Kondo says, “Nostalgia isn’t your friend.” The tips and tricks of folding and organizing clothes are simply amazing.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book focuses on tidying your house, but for me we don't own a house, we own one room.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Incredibly repetitive! The first 4 chapters of this summary is the same thing over and over again. The ideas presented in the book are solid though. If you can bear the repetitiveness and get through it you'll come away with some good notes. I also didn't agree with everything like throwing away electrical cords you don't recognize but on the whole, the summary is useful and I'll be taking action on it and I'm looking forward to the end result.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Terrible summary quality. Much better free summaries available online, and shorter.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This does not only teach you how to organize your clothes but guides you into re-aligning yourself to a simpler and essential driver lifestyle
