About this audiobook

""A romantic comedy that's fun and flirty, young and fresh."" – Popsugar (22 of the Best Books This Winter Has to Offer)

One of Oprah Magazine's 22 Romance Novels That Are Set to Be the Best of 2020

Mia Sosa delivers a sassy, steamy #ownvoices enemies-to-lovers novel, perfect for fans of Jasmine Guillory, Helen Hoang, and Sally Thorne!

A wedding planner left at the altar? Yeah, the irony isn’t lost on Carolina Santos, either. But despite that embarrassing blip from her past, Lina’s offered an opportunity that could change her life. There’s just one hitch… she has to collaborate with the best (make that worst) man from her own failed nuptials.

Marketing expert Max Hartley is determined to make his mark with a coveted hotel client looking to expand its brand. Then he learns he’ll be working with his brother’s whip-smart, stunning—absolutely off-limits—ex-fiancée. And she loathes him.

If they can nail their presentation without killing each other, they’ll both come out ahead. Except Max has been public enemy number one ever since he encouraged his brother to jilt the bride, and Lina’s ready to dish out a little payback of her own.

Soon Lina and Max discover animosity may not be the only emotion creating sparks between them. Still, this star-crossed couple can never be more than temporary playmates because Lina isn’t interested in falling in love and Max refuses to play runner-up to his brother ever again...

I enjoyed the story. The characters and story line was not predictable kept me interested the whole way. I especially enjoyed the multicultural aspect including information on the traditions and food!

I recommend it to everyone who likes hate to love romance with a little steamy parts. Also, the narrators voices were so enjoyable.

Great story! Should read this before her other book! Didn’t care for the narrators when they were doing other voices! Weren’t believable to me.

The writing was at times cringe-y, but the story was great and the smut was immaculate. This storyline would have been great as a reverse harem!

It was a good book. My only problem was the guy trying to do a female's voice, made him sound like Donald Trump

Mia Sosa is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! The Worst Best Man is the second book I’ve read by Sosa, and follows characters introduced in The Wedding Crasher. I absolutely adore how Sosa brings characters and settings to life with her words…it’s exactly like watching the movie in my mind. The female narrator was stellar, and the male narrator did a great job! I’d rate TWBM a 10!!!

A decent quick listen however the male actor is awful! All his women sound the same and like they’ve all got a severe lisp instead of Brazilian accents!

The audio constantly cut out especially towards the end when the story was wrapping up; it was pretty frustrating to be missing random chunks of the story.

The story also kind of dragged on in some places. The emails and texting dialogue just felt unnecessary.

Romcoms are mostly a hit or miss for me and this one is just in between.

This was a cute and fun romcom and there are a few moments that I got bored with the interaction between the characters nevertheless, I manage through.

I liked the male voice of Max but I didn’t liked it when he tries to read Lina’s lines with that whiny thrill voice.

The book is as horrible as the Max's narrator's voice in the audiobook.

Most horrible romance I've read in a while. The characters are super shallow and so is the attraction between them. They continuously dream of fucking the other which makes it worse considering how they never privately or publically recognised their allure for each other at all until the two characters one day, out of blue declare their suppressed and undying "love at first sight" and oh lord, justify the sacrificial act of letting your dream girl fall for your brother whom you despise so much, only to influence him into not attending his own wedding (again, how dumb is your brother?). Also, imagine they once were brother-in-law and sister-in-law in relation. Why even date Max's brother when you wanna fuck him instead? The revocation of the wedding kick starts the entire novel and was single-handedly the most underwhelming event of the whole book. What a joke!

And surprise, surprise: the audiobook is awful too! Max's narrator's voice when he narrated female dialogues especially of Lina made me want to murder someone. In short, apart from the exciting cover and the stirring premise, the book is one hot pile of mess with unnecessary and gross sexual daydreams and desires of fucking your brother's ex-fiance or your ex-fiance's brother.

Couldn’t finish it, the story was okay, but the voice the male narrator used when portraying women was terrible.

Very sweet story. I really liked the story lines and the way things progressed. Not sure I am a fan of the male narrator's impersonation of Lina's voice but it didn't take away from the story as it was only slightly distracting.

Super cute story! Well written. I love the weaving in of the cultural aspects of it the most, it really helped do paint the picture of whi Lena and her family were and their ties to their heritage.

Now the man voiceover trying to sound like a woman threw me off each time. I just couldn’t get used to it. It was creepy to say the least. Overall good book!

What a refreshing read!!!! I can't even begin to tell you just how much I LOVED this book and both characters. Lina and Max were so entertaining and so easy to like.
Max found away to wiggled himself underneath Lina's careful orchestrated façade and Lina forgot to guard her heart against Max which wasn't suppose to happen.
Max started out in the dog house in Lina's eyes because he was her ex fiance's bother who talked him out of getting married the night before Lina and Andrew were suppose to tie the knot. Talk about an uncomfortable situation right from the get go when both Max and Lina were working together unexpectedly and trying to play nice. Lina had other ideas though, how to get even and make Max pay for her breakup with his brother. OMG I laughed and smiled throughout this whole book!! Lina's family was a sassy bunch of protective strong willed Brazilian women and boy did they give Max a piece of their mind!!
My face hurt from smiling so much during this book!! I would highly recommend this read!!

It was ok, but little slow. I really did't feel the chemistry. Female narrator was very good, but I didn't like male narrator-he was reading female characters like he was mocking them. All in all... 3 stars!

Enjoyable story. Would have been better if it was a duet recording as I found when the male narrator, Wayne, did the female voices it was very jarring.

DNF, the male narrator's voice for women was awful. It's a shame, since I had been enjoying the story up until that point.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! I loved Lena's Brazilian family, and the fact that she had same sex and disabled clients.

And the characters had great chemistry! It felt like they really wanted to hate each other but every time they tried to play a prank on each other they just got along even better.

My only complaint is that while the male narrator's voice was great for Max, all the voices he did for other characters were a little cringe. The voice he did for Max's mother sounded like a bad Trump impersonation ? Also kind of wish there had been an epilogue!

I loved this rom-com because it was a mix between English and Portuguese language and how I’m Brazilian, it makes a lot of sense to me. I thought that the way she speaks doesn’t need the translation. I loved the history between Lina and Max, they were so involved with each other, so in sync. Sometimes I hated Andrew, like in that moment that he come up with his liar. And I was desperate when I was abou 90% of the book and they were fighting yet. But I think the book ends just perfect. I think that would be better if she had written an epilogue. And about the narrators, I loved the fact that was two, one for Max and other for Lina, but I didn’t think that the Max’s voice was the way I expected from him, like character. But the reading was awesome at the end. And I’m anxious to read her next book about Dean, Max’s friend, and I hope he appears in that book too.

    Book:
I think I have to accept that I do not like contemporary fiction or rom coms. I just found the book incredible cringy and lost count of the number of time I rolled my eyes. Redeeming factors were the important themes on stereotypes/expectations/interpretations/sexism/racism and the diversity and representation throughout the entire thing. Those aspects I admired.

    Audiobook:
I've got nothing against the audiobook. The two narrators were good and the speed was perfect.

I really like the story as it was! I loved the inclusion of Brazilian culture and the different family dynamics displayed. However, the male narrator gave accents to characters that wouldn't have had accents, which made it slightly inauthentic. All in all, fun story!

Great book and storyline but the male narrators imitation of a woman was horrendous. Like nails on a chalkboard. I had to stop and start so many times and eventually skip past the parts when he was imitating.
