Author

Leon Trotsky

Leon Trotsky was one of the most prominent leaders of the Russian Revolution in 1917. He was one of the primary contenders for the leadership of the Bolshevik Party in 1922 after the death of Lenin. When Stalin took this post, Trotsky swiftly concluded that the Revolution had been undermined. He was expelled from the Communist Party in 1927 and subsequently went into exile in Mexico, where he was assassinated by Soviet agents in 1940.

The content on the book was good, but the audio quality wasn't great. Their voice was loud and kind of aggressive, and there were parts where he was clapping.

It's good foundational knowledge. Build a unified working class movement.

Terrible. I don’t like it at all. Not sure what’s the hurry in reading out the book.

The narration and editing (see the last minute) could be better. Also, the way the narrators chose to pronounce things like Weimar with the W, rather the more recognized “Vie-Mar” is a bit odd

There are better books about fascism but Trotsky did live through the rise of it and does have some unique insights.

I found it very difficult to listen, mostly because I had trouble to go past the revolutionary tone of writing, so common in communist writing and speeches. If is old fashion today, it may comeback as we raise anger and divides in our society.

In regards to the content, I found the historical account of early 20th century shift from liberalism, social-democracy, fascism, interesting... For the little I got, as if I was trying to talk Theology with a Chinese person... ?
