She says she’s innocent.
DO YOU BELIEVE HER?
2013
Melissa Slade had it all: beauty, money, a successful husband and beautiful twin babies. But, in the blink of an eye, her perfect life became a nightmare – when she found herself on trial for the murder of her little girls.
PRESENT DAY
Jonathan Hunt covered the original Slade Babies case for the local newspaper. Now that new evidence has come to light, Jon's boss wants him back on the story to uncover the truth.
With Melissa's appeal date looming, time is running out. And, as Jon gets drawn deeper into a case he’d wanted to forget, he starts to question Melissa's guilt.
Is Melissa manipulating Jon or telling him the truth? Is she a murderer, or the victim of a miscarriage of justice?
And if Melissa Slade is innocent, what really happened to Ellie and Amber Slade?

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was an enjoyable, suspenseful read that I read in one day. Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this early in exchange for an honest review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was intriguing in several ways. The main question, which is did Melissa Slade kill her two twin babies, is difficult to deal with. We are presented with Melissa, who is normal mother and we know she wouldn't do this. We are introduced to those who were around her and in the house when these deaths took place....and things start seeming "off". Told through the eyes of the reporter who first reported on the case, as well as his new associate, who is helping with the coverage of Melissa's quest to obtain an appeal, we find memories of the original case, new information with everyone having grown older now and time having given a different perspective, as well as ripe skepticism. Parts are told in Melissa's voice, and again, there is some confusion. This book kept me guessing the entire time I read it. There were some coincidences which may have added new layers, or may have been just coincidences.Good book. Guessing until the end. People we like, people we don't like. All the characters seem true. Some we feel sadness for, others anger. A good, solid read. I received my copy of this book from NetGalley and I thank them.
