About this audiobook

A mysterious object threatens to destroy our solar system. The survival of humankind is at risk, but nobody takes the warning of young astrophysicist Maribel Pedreira seriously. At the same time, an exiled crew of outcasts mines for rare minerals on a lone asteroid.

When other scientists finally acknowledge Pedreira's alarming discovery, it becomes clear that these outcasts are the only ones who may be able to save our world, knowing that the Hole hurtles inexorably toward the sun.

Good story. Transitions between chapters cut short sometimes. Always felt like the end of a chapter though so I don't think I missed anything except the last word or two.

Great book. Good reader. Only minor issue is that the editing cuts off words between chapters.

A mixed bag.The characters are more like caricatures. The dialogue is stilted, difficult and basically bad. The story is pretty good and the science part of it being science fiction is 100%. This would have likely been a hit in the 1930's and '40s when science ruled a certain portion of the genre and details like characterization and dialogue were deemed unimportant. Read it as if it were something by Edmond Hamilton or E. E. 'Doc' Smith (for cardboard characters and dialogue) and you might find it enjoyable. It's a throwback in that sense. There's a nice essay at the end that describes what we know about black holes and the science underpinning the story. I gave it three stars because I wanted to hate it but couldn't quite do that. It's diamond-hard science fiction. I desperately wanted to rewrite the dialogue even as I was reading it.Not a real spoiler: The AI known as Watson in the book in my head sounded precisely like HAL9000 in '2001.' Unfortunately the humans talk like that as well. Still, good story if you can get past the amateur writing.

    Original and interesting ideas

An original story about a black hole that threatens Earth's very existence. Marred only by very awkward writing that sounds like it came from a translation app.
