About this audiobook
Karin thought she had already defeated evil . . . but there was more.
Just when their new life together has settled in, Mac vanishes, unearthing secrets and dangers that force Karin into a face-off with a deadly Mexican queenpin whose son has an agenda of his own. Along the way, nothing is quite as it has seemed. Her husband has a dark past she had never imagined, including a revelation that shocks everyone who thought they knew him.
Enemies become heroes. Friends reveal secret identities. And Karin, always impulsive to a fault, learns that even she has limits.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Karin Schaeffer is still living in Brooklyn, New York, about to celebrate her second wedding anniversary with her husband, Mac. She and Mac receive an unexpected call that Mac's parents have been brutally murdered in an apparent home invasion. The day after the funeral Mac insists on going to work and promises Karin, “the next time you see me, I’ll be . . . “ when she cuts off his sentence with a kiss. Then he disappears.
She still hasn't heard from him two weeks later, when she, and Mac's best friend and detective, Billy Staples are notified that the car he had apparently rented had been found in Long Island Sound. After the car is retrieved there is no body, but Mac's shoe is found under the seat. Months go by without a word from him but Karin is convinced that Mac is still alive since no body has ever been found. She hires a private detective who discovers things about Mac’s past she never suspected and she decides to look for him herself.
I recently read the first book in this series and thought it was suspenseful and surprising. This story was fast paced with some twists and turns that most suspense readers will find pretty predictable. I enjoyed the book and plan to continue the series. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Really enjoyed this book-Kept me interested throughout!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a better than average thriller with an absorbing plot. Like many books of this kind, it does stretch the bounds of credulity, but hey….. that is par for the course.Karin and Mac are a close couple and ex- police officers and the story begins with the brutal murder of Mac’s parents. Why would anyone do such a thing to a quiet, family orientated couple. The police think it is a burglary gone wrong, but Mac seems totally thrown by this judgement. He then disappears and, for all intents and purposes, the police believe he has committed suicide. Karin refuses to believe them and is determined to find him one way or another. She soon realises that Mac is not the man she thought he was.Karin and her toddler son are being watched and are in grave danger. Someone is out for revenge.I haven’t read the first book of the series “You are Next” and that did put me at a disadvantage I think. I will endeavour to read the first one and sequel when it is released. So, yes, by and large, it was very enjoyable. This book was made available to me for an honest review.
