About this audiobook

The twelve-year rampage of "Missoula Mauler" Wayne Nance—and the shocking end to his murder spree

To his neighbors, Wayne Nance, a furniture mover from Missoula, Montana, appeared to be an affable, considerate, and trustworthy guy. No one knew that Nance was the "Missoula Mauler," a psychopath responsible for a series of sadistic sex slayings that rocked the idyllic town between 1974 and 1986.

Nance's only requirement for murder was accessibility—a preacher's wife, a teenage runaway, a female acquaintance, a married couple. Putting on a friendly façade, he could easily gain his victims' trust. Then, one September night, thirty-year-old Nance pushed his luck, preying on a couple who lived to tell the tale.

A true story with an incredible twist, written by former Wall Street Journal editor John Coston and complete with photos, To Kill and Kill Again reveals the disturbing compulsions of a charming serial killer who fooled everyone he knew, stumped the authorities, terrified a community, and nearly got away with it.

I've been studying serial killers since 1981. I had never heard of this madman. This was a super-deep dive into a killer I had no idea existed. I'm definitely going recommend some of the podcasts I listen read this book and cover this story. Way too few of us survivors get our stories told. And this is one of the good ones.

Dreadfully boring in some areas, riveting in others. Overall, an interesting read, especially considering I haven't heard much about this guy in particular.

This is an incredible and terrifying story. I think the author has captured the mood of that small Montana town really well. I know that some of the other reviews have said the passages of the book are a little tedious, but I think this is just about the author, painting a picture and building the scene for the reader. The story reaches a climactic conclusion which keeps the listener on the edge of their seat till the very end. A terrifying story all the more horrific, because it was true. highly recommended.

This was an interesting read about a serial killer I didn't know as much about. Some parts of this book were extremely intense and captivating... And some of it just kind of drags on.

I picked up this book after reading the author's other one because I love his vivid writing style, it reminds me of Anne Rule. I wish he would write more! I can only find two books written by this author. This story is well told and engaging, especially the end which turns out to be an amazing story of survival which you rarely get to hear in the true crime world. I definitely recommend this book

Listened to this as an audiobook and it was rather riveting. Serial killers represent the ultimate in evil as they keep spreading their mayhem until they are either caught or done in somehow. The monster Wayne Nance no exception here. Amazingly it seemed he had been on the list a suspects early on in his career but very little was actually done to tie him to anything. Again looking back at the era possibly the unavailability of accurate DNA might have been the hinderance. The narrative came off a bit contrived in almost novel like fashion yet it certainly kept me attentive to the next twist in the plot.
