About this audiobook
The funny, sad, super-honest, all-true story of Chelsea Handler's year of self-discovery—featuring a nerdily brilliant psychiatrist, a shaman, four Chow Chows, some well-placed security cameras, various family members (living and departed), friends, assistants, and a lot of edibles
In a haze of vape smoke on a rare windy night in L.A. in the fall of 2016, Chelsea Handler daydreams about what life will be like with a woman in the White House. And then Donald Trump happens. In a torpor of despair, she decides that she's had enough of the privileged bubble she's lived in—a bubble within a bubble—and that it's time to make some changes, both in her personal life and in the world at large.
At home, she embarks on a year of self-sufficiency—learning how to work the remote, how to pick up dog shit, where to find the toaster. She meets her match in an earnest, brainy psychiatrist and enters into therapy, prepared to do the heavy lifting required to look within and make sense of a childhood marked by love and loss and to figure out why people are afraid of her. She becomes politically active—finding her voice as an advocate for change, having difficult conversations, and energizing her base. In the process, she develops a healthy fixation on Special Counsel Robert Mueller and, through unflinching self-reflection and psychological excavation, unearths some glittering truths that light up the road ahead.
Thrillingly honest, insightful, and deeply, darkly funny, Chelsea Handler's memoir keeps readers laughing, even as it inspires us to look within and ask ourselves what really matters in our own lives.
Editor's Note
Whacky turn…
Actress and author Chelsea Handler does a deep-dive looking for herself and what really matters in her memoir about turning over a new leaf (whacky hijinks ensue). Handler has a podcast by the same name, “Life Will Be the Death of Me,” where she interviews other comedians.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Please listen to this book , you will cry and laugh. I have listened to Chelsea's previous books and this book is far the best . It's like you are in therapy with her too. Made me realize some of my messed up mind . Best book , listen to it you will not regret it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Mildly amusing.... couldn't finish it. I'm not interested in a rich, self-absorbed Hollywood star with some pop- discovery, pseudo introspective narrative. However, she's probably a very nice person.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Everyone needs to hear this! It’s funny, but more than that it is enlightening and cold hard truth. Get on your own team and do yourself a favor and read this book!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5LOVE!!! if you are curious about therapy or even highly against it, give this a listen. While its so heavy, its still full of laughs. Excellent listen.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was good book, the only thing... it’s very political. She has a very big opinion on Donald Trump, which she shares over and over and over again... that’s the only thing I didn’t like
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book! Chelsea brought tears to my eyes. Some of happiness and some of sadness. I would definitely recommend to my friends.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’ve been a fan of Chelsea Handler for a long, long time. I’ve read her books, watched her shows- but I am left merely speechless with her latest piece of work. I have loved watching the evolution of Ms. Handler through her work. The displays of vulnerability, authenticity, bravery, and real life humor are a sure delight that I am happy to have experienced. I recommend anyone who is thinking of reading/listening to this book that they take the plunge!
