- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Excellent resource for a broad overview of the occult through history. I expected more biased views but was surprised to see a much more objective look at the subject. If you are looking for a spell book then keep looking this is more a chronology of the occult through history.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Okay, so I am grounded in the Modernism of the 18th-century enlightenment like most people I am not looking for magic spells. I approached this book in the spirit of Borges or Eco. A history of rejected ideas in the west that shows our intellectual tradition from the pre-Socratics onward through a funhouse mirror or through a glass darkly. it is funny how the occult mirrored the currents of western thought from Pythagoras to 2012.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an amazing reference book. Thanks to this book, now I need to read (or listen) to 100 more.
I loved the narration too, great voice and tune. It feels like a speech, more than a reading.
I really enjoyed it.1 person found this helpful

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Brilliant! Highly recommend. Insightful information & comprehensive. Very well narrated
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Information seems fine, but the narration and delivery are so dry, I want to fall asleep, even though this subject interests me.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/511/1/22: Read his most recent blog post about a Pfizer executive lying about the Covid vaccine--then read the ACTUAL statement from the Pfizer exec. It's really clear that what the exec actually said and what Greer THINKS he said are two different things. Apparently, Greer doesn't grasp the difference between catching a disease, and transmitting a disease. SPOILER: There *is* a difference, John.
BTW--this isn't about Covid. It's about a guy who can't interpret a news article from last month who is asking you to believe he can interpret texts from hundreds of years ago.
If you believe him, it's just because you really, really want to believe. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5some of the information is a bit one sided perspective but its not too intrusive.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book. Essential reading to dodge the many pitfalls of esoteric studies.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love it or hate it this relatively short but incredibly dense reference book is a great place for someone interested in the occult but doesn’t know where to start. It is also a good review for those who may have picked up bits of information from online or conversations - a large amount of misinformation exists in the sphere and you get the basic truths sorted out in this book. A fun listen but would be best as a physical reference book/coffee table book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it, great source of knowledge for those looking for it !
I recommend it to those who seek magical understanding - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fascinating view how occultism began and what transpired up to the present.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A very solid reference book. Written in chronological order, it follows the line of occultism throughout history. While not particularly in depth, each section provides enough information for readers to get basic ideas and provides them with source material should they wish to do their own research. I'll definitely keep this one on hand since I'll revisit it from time to time.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book would have come in real handy for research during a call I took in college. Funny enough it came out during the time I took the class and we all completely missed it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The knowledge shared in this book changed my perception of religion and confirmed my theory. There is no god - they only exist in people’s minds. You either make up your own mind or follow ideologies like a sheep.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very good book, but didn't include anything on chaos magick
