About this audiobook

Heal by embracing your pain with #1 New York Times bestselling author Marianne Williamson – preorder her latest, The Mystic Jesus, picking up where A Return to Love left off

The internationally recognized teacher, speaker, and New York Times bestselling author of A Return to Love argues that our desire to avoid pain is actually detrimental to our lives, disconnecting us from our deepest emotions and preventing true healing and spiritual transcendence.

Marianne Williamson is a bestselling author, world-renowned teacher, and one of the most important spiritual voices of our time. In Tears to Triumph, she argues that we—as a culture and as individuals—have learned to avoid facing pain. By doing so, we are neglecting the spiritual work of healing.

Instead of allowing ourselves to embrace our hurt, we numb it, medicate it, dismiss it, or otherwise divert our attention so that we never have to face it. In refusing to acknowledge our suffering, we actually prolong it and deny ourselves the opportunity for profound wisdom—ultimately limiting our personal growth and opportunity for enlightenment. Frozen by denial, we are left standing in the breech. Whole industries profit from this immobility, and while they have grown rich, we have become spiritually poorer.

As Marianne makes clear, true healing and transcendence can only come when we finally face our pain and wrestle with what it has to teach us. Written with warm compassion and profound wisdom, Tears to Triumph offers us a powerful way forward through the pain, to a deeper awareness of our feelings, our lives, and our true selves.

Love it. Am continuing to listen again and again. It applies as much today (2020) as it did when it was written 23 years ago. Its helping e so much during these times of depression in this covid lockdown.

I love how the author took us back to basics, back to love, to end suffering and find healing. The emphasis in the book is that we always have a choice and if we ever have to choose to either ‘bless or judge’ an event, circumstances, person or people we must choose to bless them and send them love because judging them will lead to suffering (which stems from the mind or thoughts). Ask God or the universe ‘Dear God, I am willing to see things differently’

I loved the prayer at the end of each chapter.

I picked up this book to find out more about Marianne Williamson since she was running for president. I had heard she was a great environmental advocate and had written several books and that was all I really knew about her. Oh wow, was I in for a surprise. If you are looking for a very spiritual, mystical book on how to overcome life's adversities this might be the book for you. If you are looking for a book written by a political candidate........well I was left scratching my head. So I'm not really sure if I am giving it a 2 because it was a bad book or because this is not the book I was expecting. (Though I must admit I disagree with several of her statements....such as there are no neutral thoughts. Either thoughts are loving or they are judgmental. I also did not like her anti-psychiatric medication stance.)
