Growing risk…

Former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe tells his personal story of over two decades upholding the law and protecting people, and explains just how and why President Trump is a growing threat to American democracy. A crucial read.

Descrizione

This program is read by the author.

On March 16, 2018, just 26 hours before his scheduled retirement from the organization he had served with distinction for more than two decades, Andrew G. McCabe was fired from his position as deputy director of the FBI. President Donald Trump celebrated on Twitter: "Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI — A great day for Democracy."

In The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump, Andrew G. McCabe offers a dramatic and candid account of his career and an impassioned defense of the FBI's agents and of the institution's integrity and independence in protecting America and upholding our Constitution.

McCabe started as a street agent in the FBI's New York field office, serving under director Louis Freeh. He became an expert in two kinds of investigations that are critical to American national security: Russian organized crime — which is inextricably linked to the Russian state — and terrorism. Under Director Robert Mueller, McCabe led the investigations of major attacks on American soil, including the Boston Marathon bombing, a plot to bomb the New York subways, and several narrowly averted bombings of aircraft. And under James Comey, McCabe was deeply involved in the controversial investigations of the Benghazi attack, the Clinton Foundation's activities, and Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server when she was secretary of state.

The Threat recounts in compelling detail the time between Donald Trump's November 2016 election and McCabe's firing, set against a pause-resisting narrative spanning two decades when the FBI's mission shifted to a new goal: preventing terrorist attacks on Americans. But as McCabe shows, right now the greatest threat to the United States comes from within, as President Trump and his administration ignore the law, attack democratic institutions, degrade human rights, and undermine the US Constitution that protects every citizen.

Important, revealing, and powerfully argued, The Threat tells the true story of what the FBI is, how it works, and why it will endure as an institution of integrity that protects America.

May those who seek to abuse their power only too advantage themselves over the truth, republic, and those less fortunate, find justice and humility before they see he'll.

Great book about the FBI and Mr McCabe’s time there. Offered more insight into Benghazi, Clinton emails, Rod Rosenstein’s memo, etc. I enjoyed hearing about the inner workings of the FBI. More admiration for the work that goes into upholding the law and protecting the country. (The ebook recording sound level wasn’t consistent but adequate.)

He was a registered Republican for the entirety of his adult life, may have been driven out of the FBI Institution but he has rolled up his sleeves and returned with a memoir that’s better than any book I have read recently and told a lot of truths about this current President. It is a concise account of the FBI on how it works and how today it is being undermined by this Administration. A lot of revealing facts I did not know before reading his book which explains thoroughly why certain positions were taking by the FBI. A true Patriot who stood up for his principles and warns us about the current perils this Administration has impose on our Institutions and on us all Americans. We have a lot to lose. A must read as highly recommend it.

Thank you for sharing your truth, your passion and your wisdom in times of chaos. Great autobiography; an account of life as an FBI Agent and how you dealt with the crooked 45th.

The book was informative and seemed to fall along the same lines as James Comey’s book. When multiple people have the same account of events it’s hard to refute them, especially two DIRECTORS OF THE FBI. Their will be those who refute these accounts based on some blind loyalty to the president, just know he does not care about you at all.

Andrew McCabe. Thank you for your story and for defining the way our democracy is in peril. I hope the Congress starts to do their job and live and vote the values you define and endorse. I wish you luck in your next endeavor. Maybe you should run for an office.

I don’t agree with a lot of the background to McCabe’s career in the FBI. However, this book was an excellent collection of anecdotes and reportage that allowed me to appreciate his thoughts and his reasoning behind his actions. I have a great deal of respect for him after listening.

An extremely important book for all Americans to read. Well written and easy to follow. There were a few points that went on a bit too long, but overall I really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed the layout of the timeline of all that was going on around Comey’s firing. It really shows the world how unethical Trump is. I think it is very important to preserve these stories.

Obviously, you read this book to hear what he has to say about recent events but his presentation of his entire life with the FBI was also interesting. It was also a plus that he narrated the audiobook himself.

Full of lies just like the Comey book. Sad to see corruption at this level. They openly ploted removing a duly elected President. Shame.

An absolute disgrace. He should be writing this from behind bars. I still can't believe how many people believe these lies.
