Kate and her father, Roland, currently have an uneasy truce, but when he starts testing her defenses again, she knows that sooner or later, a confrontation is inevitable. The Witch Oracle has begun seeing visions of blood, fire, and human bones. And when a mysterious box is delivered to Kate's doorstep, a threat of war from the ancient enemy who nearly destroyed her family, she knows their time is up.

Kate Daniels sees no other choice but to combine forces with the unlikeliest of allies. She knows betrayal is inevitable. She knows she may not survive the coming battle. But she has to try.

Author

Ilona Andrews

“Ilona Andrews” is the pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. Ilona is a native-born Russian, and Gordon is a former communications sergeant in the U.S. Army. Contrary to popular belief, Gordon was never an intelligence officer with a license to kill, and Ilona was never the mysterious Russian spy who seduced him. They met in college, in English Composition 101, where Ilona got a better grade. (Gordon is still sore about that.) They have co-authored four New York Times and USA Today bestselling series: the urban fantasy of Kate Daniels, rustic fantasy of the Edge, paranormal romance of Hidden Legacy, and Innkeeper Chronicles. They live in Texas with their two children and many dogs and cats.

Fantastic ending to Kate Daniels story. Or at least the climax she's been building to. There might continue to be side stories, but I suspect that Ilona is interested in new projects.

Cleaning up all the loose ends by adding in one almost overwhelming foe, this book hardly holds together. Very high body count.

A strong, what-seems-to-be-a-finish? to the Kate Daniels series. It looks like the long-dreaded battle with Daddy won't be put off much longer, but what's causing a new wave of terrible killings in Atlanta? And how can Kate keep everyone she loves safe? She has grown so very fully into her power; it's beautiful to behold. The authors describe the book as "the culmination of this story line." And, you know, there are so many continuation/spin-off possibilities... especially the kid. Dang, I want to see how he grows up!

I have loved the Kate Daniels series from book one! This was a series that grabbed onto my interest and did not let go. I loved the evolution of Kate’s character in this series and the relationship that developed between her and Curran was swoon worthy! I have come to love all the characters in this series and will admit to having a heavy heart that it was coming to an end, but what a series ending Magic Triumphs was! This story was intense, endearing, and wonderfully executed! The inclusion of Kate and Curran’s son into this plot showed a different side to both of them and I loved that. Kate is a pretty chill character unless you mess with someone she cares for and to see her go mama bear in this story was entertaining every single time. Curran had his role in this book too but he was away a lot but….when the reason why he was gone comes out it is mind blowing.Overall, Magic Triumphs was a wonderful series ending book but it was not as action packed as I would have liked. I would say that the pacing of 2/3rds of the book was slow and then the last 1/3rd was go, go, go! It wasn’t unenjoyable but it wasn’t what I was looking for either. Also, I am hopeful that there might be an inclusion of a certain character in The Iron Covenant series or a spinoff by how the book ended. If either of those scenarios be the case, then I will be very happy. Magic Triumphs was a wonderful story and I highly recommend it and the series to all readers.

The final Kate Daniels book, though there’s a setup for more in the same universe should the market demand. We start with baby Declan already a toddler, which makes some sense given the difficulties of fighting epic battles while still nursing. Kate’s father has been quiescent for a while when a new threat starts liquefying entire small towns outside the city limits. (And yes, I mean liquefying, not liquidating.) She’s forced into an alliance with him to deal with it, but how will she avoid his hunger for his grandson? The uncertainty is really who lives and dies, and I’m not sure there were enough of the latter for a post-GoT epic, but it wasn’t an embarrassing conclusion and Kate certainly earned a rest.

Final book in the Kate Daniels series. Lots of magic, action scenes, familiar characters, and appearances of some I didn't expect -- Hugh. The only reason this is not a 5 is that I'm sad that this is the last and that I've discovered that I like the Innkeeper series even better. I was sorry that some characters I liked got killed but I suppose that's necessary to make the battles more real. I suspect we will see more of Julie.

This is the tenth and final book in the Kate Daniels series. I was very impressed with this conclusion to the Kate Daniels series. I love how everything was wrapped up and enjoy that this series ended on a high note.Kate and Curran are trying to juggle their jobs and their new baby just like any parents. However, when a whole town goes missing Kate knows things are about to get very serious and very complicated. As more and more strange things start happening around Atlanta, Kate is surprised to find the danger coming from an unexpected source.I had a couple small complaints but nothing big. I wasn’t sure how I felt about mom-Kate; some of the stuff was funny but I also like to read these books because they deal with crazy problems...not the same everyday sorts of problems I have to deal with in real life. I also thought a lot of the things that happened towards the end felt a bit rushed and a bit too convenient. Aside from those small complaints I really enjoyed this. There was a good amount of action, all our favorite characters get in on the action, and the plot is entertaining. All the main plot threads were tied up nicely. This has been a great urban fantasy series and I am glad things ended on a positive note. I feel like the series had gone down hill a bit the last couple novels and thought this was the perfect place to wrap things up.Overall this was an amazing way to end the Kate Daniels series! I would highly recommend this series to urban fantasy fans. This is a high quality and creative UF series that is action packed and just very well done.

This is the conclusion of the Kate Daniels series. Readers have watched Kate grow from a secretive mercenary to a wife, mother and protector of Atlanta. She and Curran are adjusting to being the parents of thirteen-month-old Conlan who seems to be exhibiting new talents every day and who is broadcasting magic like a lighthouse.Kate and Curran are preparing for Kate's father Roland to attempt to retake Atlanta. They are not expecting an even greater threat to happen first. It starts with a rather odd gift - a box filled with ash, a red rose, and a knife. Then there are settlements attacked by a mysterious something that kills everyone and boils them into a sludge in order to steal their bones. Kate and Curran call on all their allies to form an army to defeat this new threat. But they can't do it without Roland - and they can't trust Roland. This was a wonderful finale to Kate and Curran's adventures. I loved seeing Kate and Curran's relationship and learning what each would do and sacrifice for the other. I loved getting to know baby Conlan. It was nice to catch up with many of the characters from earlier books in this series.

MAGIC TRIUMPHS was a bittersweet ending to a much loves series. Not only is there the showdown between Kate and her father in the last book of the Kate Daniel series, but there is another conflict throughout MAGIC TRIUMPHS that makes the situation even more dicey. We got plenty of action, suspense, and danger throughout the whole story. It's so hard to say goodbye to all the characters we have seen grow over the years. We have liked some more that others, but MAGIC TRIUMPHS seemed to bring them all together to fight for their world. Kate has had her fair share of battles, but fighting for her child really brought out another side to her. She is willing to do anything to keep her family and friends safe and she does. I really enjoyed meeting and getting to see Conlan grow a little. There were a few things that make me think there is at least two characters that might be given a spin-off and I look forward to seeing what happens with them. For all the other loves characters of this series, I felt like they all added something to the storyline in MAGIC TRIUMPH and I was glad to see them all involved in some way to the send off of the series.I'm happy with how the Kate Daniels series ended, yet sad that Kate and Curran will no longer be the focus of future stories. I will miss their voices, but happy that they got there HEA.* This book was provided free of charge from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book! There really is no word that describes how amazing this story is. I have been looking forward to this book since I finished reading the previous book in the series almost two years ago. I have also dreaded reading this book because I knew going in that this was going to be the final book in the Kate Daniels series which part of me never wants to see come to an end. I am so impressed by this story and the way that Kate's story was wrapped up. Reading this book was such a wonderful experience. As I said, this book is the final book in the Kate Daniels series which really should be read in order. This story starts shortly after the events in the previous book with Kate and Curran becoming parents. I am not always a big fan of kids in books but this kid only added to the story. I loved seeing Kate and Curran with Conlan and had a great time seeing them fall into some of the same behaviors I have seen in other new parents. It was interesting to see how much changed in the way they faced parenthood by the end of the story. When I pick up a Kate Daniels book, or any book written by Ilona Andrews for that matter, I expect an exciting story with a lot action and that is what I got in this book. All of the battles, fights, bad guys, and chaos that I have come to expect in this series made an appearance and if anything the action may have been turned up a notch. There were times that I found myself holding my breath and turning pages as fast as I could just to see how things would work out. This book also had all of the humor that I had hoped to find. I was especially excited to find a few lines that mentioned other key moments in the series. I thought that was a wonderful way to remember how far these characters have come. The banter between Kate and Curran was awesome as always and I was happy to find more than a few swoony and touching moments between them. The chemistry between them is as strong as it ever was.I highly recommend this series to others. I feel like I have been on an amazing adventure with this group of characters and I wouldn't change a single second of the adventure. This is a series that I will read again and again over the course of my lifetime without growing tired of it. I hope to catch a few glimpses of Kate and Curran in future books set in this world just to check in from time to time. I received a digital review copy of this book from Berkley Publishing Group - Ace via NetGalley.

This was the absolute best ending for this series. Nothing I can write will add to the (I am certain) numerous accolades. So I will simply say, thank you IA and GA for giving us a series that can be read and re-read for years. Kate Daniels is the benchmark for excellent Action/Adventure/Fantasy series.

Lots of closure in this 10th book of the Kate Daniels series. It's a tough job, resolving all the issues, and the authors did a pretty good job of building in reasonable tension. I liked the ending, and opening the door for the roving Erra/Julie show.

On the one hand, there was a Plot Moppet. On the other hand, there was some new and different dragon mythology.

The final book in the Kate Daniels series Is a good ending to this long journey. Things are wrapped up for Kate and Curran and yes there are things to find out in this setting, Kate doesn’t have to be the POV character to do it. A big side note is the events in Iron and Blood come before this book, but you don’t have to read it to know what is going on. It does give an alternative view on a character that shows up here but doesn’t ruin the story or narrative if you haven’t read it. Almost everyone makes an appearance in the book at some point and the ending does leave more room for more stories with other players. An excellent read and now I want to reread them all to watch the growth of Kate all over again.

How did I fail to review this? It was everything I could hope for in the culmination of the series (at least I can re-read it, so I don't need to mourn). So much adventure, so much intricate plotting, so many allies who appear. Rawr. Loved it.

Kate's last hurrah. There's really not much I can say about it that wouldn't spoil some aspect of the story. It was an outstanding story, and I'm sitting here trying to come up with something, anything to pick apart, and all I've got is a microscopic disappointment about Erra. I liked her better dead, although I can see she's going to be a catalyst in Julie's story.(hide spoiler) I found the Kate's ultimate solution clever; perhaps I should have seen it coming, but I'm glad I didn't. Clever not only in the fictional sense; Kate and Curren's story has been neatly and happily ended, but the Andrews' left themselves a back door. Just in case. I sort of hope they never use it. As much as I adore this series - and I will miss it - the story arc was perfectly crafted and perfectly ended. Resurrecting it would risk feeling exploitative. Not much of a review, really, but while I could talk for some time about this book, the events, the characters, it could only ruin a great story for those that haven't yet read it. For Kate fans, all I can say is: it's excellent.

Alas, all good things must eventually come to an end. Magic Triumphs is the tenth and final book in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Nine books to build up to the final confrontation between Kate and Roland and......and it was ok. The book follows a familiar formula where Kate has a mystery to solve while the world (or at least Atlanta) is facing the apocalypse. Conlan, Kate and Curran's child, is absolutely the best thing about the book and steals every scene he's in. Maybe we'll get some stories of Conlan's adventures in the future, that would be hilarious. I digress. There wasn't anything overly bad about this installment. There's plenty of over the top action and snark to go around. Julie has some great scenes and I'm genuinely happy that Kate and Curran found their HEA. The epilogue is fantastic and leaves a great hook for the future. Now that I think about it, I feel like Roland really got the short end of the stick. He's such a fantastic villain and it felt like his ending was rushed. Such a shame. Luckily the authors have left themselves some wiggle room there in case they want to do more in the future.Overall, it's been a great urban fantasy series with a lot of characters I've enjoyed getting to know across 10 books and several novellas. If you're new to UF and wonder what the genre is about, you can't go wrong giving Kate Daniels a try.

    Perfect

I have wanted to be Kate since the very first time I read the very first book. Curran has been my book boyfriend for the same amount of time. I have lived their story and reread it time and again. I can't even say how much these characters have become my friends, not just Kate and Curran, but everyone in the books. I even liked High.

I am sad that this is the last Kate book. But it was the perfect note for Kate to go out on. Simply perfect. And I'm so glad I got to read it.

So look, you guys. I'm not entirely sure I know what to say here.
I guess I'll think of a few things because there's a whole awful lot of white space here.

Long series? Not my jam. But this series was fun and at times spectacular. If you've been following my reviews or seen the review of Iron & Magic, you'll know that I like to throw out there often and loudly (or maybe just once or twice) that I think Kate and Curran are a terrible, annoying couple. They make me laugh at times, they broke my heart once or twice, but man oh man, I have never seen less of a team. In a sense, this wasn't awful because this series was ten books long-it gives them a chance to grow into it. I found it slightly annoying then that they slide back into their old habits. Maybe this is consistency, but what I really see is lack of growth as a couple. And that's why I'm not calling this romance. This is a great book about bunches of people with a super fun plot.

But let's visit the plot for a bit. I realize that Ilona Andrews team said it takes a lot out of you to write 10 book series. I believe it. It took a lot of out me to read. I think the last couple were amongst the most emotionally draining. I didn't feel that intensity here.

And while this was so fun, the introduction of a metric fuckton of sideshows were not welcome. Cut 50 pages. Conlan is funny, but for goodness sake 100 pages of antics dedicated to him (estimated, perhaps exaggerated).

Let's just put it out there. I love a happy ending I do, but considering I thought the best part of this book were Elara & Hugh and wondering exactly what Julie and Derek were off doing *you know you want to know* and the moderately humorous quips between layers upon layers of exposition...WELL

I guess I am disappointed for the second time this week. I'd hoped for a heavier, more focused novel. This was a reunion book with one epic battle and it's not even between you who think it will be. COPOUT.. And a deus ex machina in the form of a secret--going two ways--that moderated any need for a resolution between the characters? Ugh, what a way out...Entertaining, yes. A good book? yep. A culmination and finale that the series deserved? Not in my opinion-it just didn't fit the story arc. Romance? See above, but I think not. The best they have to offer? Um, fuck no. See the very sexy Hidden Legacy & Iron & Magic.

    This cover is magnificent, however.

Holy Shitake, the things I have witnessed, unspeakable, fantastic, horrific, beautiful things, all the feels on steroids. I will miss this world and the characters.
